We NEED YOUR Help
In 2008 we will be commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the Ballynahinch branch, and there is a great deal of work to be done if we are going to have something on the ground by September of next year.
We propose to set up a special Working Group to take charge of the event, and we would appeal to all our members to please come along and lend a hand in the preparation work that has to be done. The following are just a few of the main points that need attention, but there are a great many more things that need to be done, and some of these will become apparent as we progress.
1. We are preparing a new brochure to promote the Trust, and to highlight this event in particular, so we need a few people to help us with the securing of advertising to help pay for the publication of this booklet, and to undertake some of the work involved in its preparation. If you have experience in this type of work, or think you could help us in any way, please give us a call.
2. We hope to try to secure a few more sections of the track-bed so that we can lay as much track as possible by September of next year. We need therefore to set up a small Working Group whose job it will be to meet with some of the landowners to help finalise arrangements in this respect. This is an important part of the work, so all the help we can get will be very much appreciated.
3. All the work that has to be done is going to cost a lot of money, so one of the vitally important tasks that needs to be undertaken immediately is fund raising. We can talk and negotiate as much as we like, but unless we have the funds to back it up we will still achieve very little. If you think you can help us in this important facet of the work please give us a call. We hope to have a small group who will concentrate on this particular task.
4. Subject to the success of the foregoing, we will then require the help of those who are going to put the project on the ground – The Labourers who are going to do the heavy work such as preparing the track-bed, laying track and hopefully, undertaking building work. If any of these are your type of work, then we need your help.
Each of us has an important role to play, regardless of how small our contribution may seem.
