     COUNTRY MOON BOOTSCOOTERS

We are a line dancing group based at Hervey Bay and are now into our ninth year of teaching in this area.   Hervey Bay is situated in Queensland, Australia, about 4 hours drive north of Brisbane.  We also have classes at nearby Maryborough and Dundowran.

We believe in having fun and enjoying life and this attitude is reflected on the dance floor.  That means we are not in the rush to do the ‘latest and greatest’ choosing rather to do dances that suit us.  We can’t be too short of the mark though as we seem to be able to do most of the dances that are being done in other areas of Australia.

Our leader is Annie Bradbury and she has the wonderful gift of patience!  She originally came from Melbourne (Victoria)  where she ran Whitehorse Bootscooters.  That class was taken over by Stephen Paterson when Annie moved to Hervey Bay.

Annie has been dancing since 1991 but her background is in basketball, both as player and coach, and she has a degree in Business and Sports Administration.   Melbourne’s loss was our gain and we think ourselves very lucky to have her!

Our associate teacher is Jan Wyllie but since her official retirement date we don’t see as much of her as we would like.   We love it when she does come and especially when she teaches us a new dance that she has choreographed.    Jan is a well known identity in Australian line dancing and is an internationally recognised Choreographer/ Instructor.

She was originally from Toowoomba Qld where, along with her partner Anneke, she ran Janneke’s School Of Linedance. After Anneke’s death in 1999 Jan made the decision to move away from Toowoomba and finally settled in Hervey Bay in 2000. Annie took over her linedance classes when she moved to Hervey Bay in 2001.

Clogging was introduced by Jan and Annie in 2006 but Annie heads the group now.   It is a small group of 15-20 dancers who are dedicated to keeping clogging alive and well in Hervey Bay.

Clogging is a form of tap dance that is done in lines like line dancing.   If you are interested, come along and have a look. You will be most welcome.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our homepage and look forward to seeing you at one of our classes if you are ever in our area.  Until then, all the best to you and happy dancing!
