UK Aerospace Rocketry Challenge 2008

Calling all rocket Scientists!
Fancy an eggciting challenge?

Win a trip to the USA rocketry finals plus a share of a cash prize for your school!

The purpose of the challenge is to teach students aerospace science by having them design and build a safe and stable model rocket that lifts a fragile payload (two raw eggs) to exactly 750 feet and has a flight duration of exactly 45 secondes, at the end of which it returns this payload back to earth safely and undamaged.

UKAYRoC
Now in its second year the UKAYRoC is conducted during each school year starting in September, leading to a competitive face-to-face  fly-off
for the final prizes among the top 20 teams nationally.

The top 20 qualifying UKAYRoC teams will compete at the 2008 Finals at Charterhouse School, in Surrey, on March 29, 2008. The winning 2008 UKAYRoC TEAM will win an all expenses paid trip to the USA to attend the Team America Rocketry Challenge Finals at Great Meadow, in The Plains, Virginia, USA 17-18 May 2008.

To find out more about entering the competition, visit the UKAYRoC site at:                          www.ukayroc.org.uk

Solar Minimum approaches as the Sun loses its spots

Scientists are keeping a close eye on the Sun, waiting for the first sign of the appearance of sunspots. When spots begin to appear on the sun once again, scientists know that the sun is heading into a new season of extreme solar activity.
