HIV Health

At AIDS Action's HIV Health Program, we believe there are five main resources fundamental to HIV health:

  • HIV Treatment Information and Education: A reference service for people with HIV seeking up-to-date information about new treatments and drugs, side effects, clinical trials, and other HIV-related medical information.

  • Talking with Your Doctor: Working well with your doctor is key to doing well with HIV. This section can help you build a partnership with your doctor, prepare for medical appointments, and know what to discuss during those visits.

  • Taking the Pills (Adherence): Taking HIV medications is a big commitment. We share tips and resources that have worked for other people with HIV.

  • Health Challenges: Side effects, mental health, hepatitis C - get more information on these and other health challenges by checking out AIDS Action's InfoPacs and HIV Index.

  • Positive Prevention: Many people with HIV are seeking ways to be safer when having sex or doing drugs. AIDS Action offers many resources to help. Check out Client Services, Your Health, where there are people who can talk with you about sex and drugs. Look up needle exchange and condom distribution sites. Or call the Hotline, at 1-800-235-2331, or (617) 437-1672 (TTY).

If you need more information, or would like an individual treatment consultation, please contact the program at (617) 450-1254, or by email, reslib@aac.org.

  • The following is a cut and paste from the Corpus Christi Caller Times group forums. Our website has been listed with the newspaper and several new attempts to make the city and community aware of our "being" has been submitted!!

HIV/AIDS awareness and steps in local progress

Although World AIDS Day is recognized in the month of December every year we can not help but be reminded of the epidemic on a daily basis. Though it is often thought of as only affecting a certain segment of "society" or only in some remote corners of the globe of course it is closer than you think; in fact right here in your own city! In answer and response to the local crisis and in conjunction with State, County and city-wide HIV organizations I wanted to make everyone aware of one single source that can quickly update you as to what is happening. Through the wonders of the internet we now have a new CITY HIV WEBSITE! On it you will find local support and volunteer opportunites, social activities, a library of information resources and items to bring hope, love, acceptance and encouragement to those infected with and affected by HIV disease. Please take a moment to visit the website today at: http://www.freewebs.com/corpuschristihivpoz/

If you would like to get involved on a more personal level we would encourage you to drop by our weekly support group meetings held every Thursday at St. Paul United Church of Christ (5500 block of Lipes Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX).

Thanks for your love, support and concern. Now we would love to see your great spirit of ACTION!

    Michael, website owner/manager
