Abortion is a very serious moral issue within America and the church, probably more than any issue in our society. This thinking that taking the life of any person, especially that of the unborn, is the worst sin of mankind. It is causing great division within churches and families. It also is causing great hardship within political parties but since I do not care for politicians/politics as a whole, especially the immature and ungodly political parties who control America by extortion and bribery, I do not care to address these people or parties. I believe that a complete study of the issue of abortion from scripture will show it is also a form of judgement from God upon his people and also other nations.
I understand that this is a very serious and touchy subject. I do not care to speak on this subject, but I must follow the dictates of the spirit. This is not an easy subject and I intend to keep it short and simple by following the dictates of scripture and scripture only.
Romans 15:4 tells us concerning Old Testament scriptures that "for whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." And 2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that "all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." These scriptures and a host of others tell us that the Old Testament is just not a history book. It is there for our learning and a warning that these things could happen to us also.
Once again our problem is that we are thinking with our natural reasoning and not by the spirit and text of scripture. If we are to study scripture "line upon line, precept upon precept, here alittle, there alittle" then ALL Scripture is to be studied for the ways of God in his judgement of men; ungodly and godly men.
Isaiah speaks of a "O virgin daughter of Babylon" and the judgement of God upon this people. Notice what the spirit said in the book of Isaiah 47:9, "but these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon you in their perfection for the multitude of your sorceries, and the great abundance of your enchantments." Notice two things about the judgements of God that shall come upon this nation: (1) loss of children and (2) widowhood. Now why should we as a nation that we believe is called by God think that this could not happen to us? I fear that way too many Christians believe that the Church today is a special people and that God will not judge us nor take us through his wrath. I feel that this attitude is wrong and unbiblical.
I remember back in the mid-1980's, while attending a Bible College course, God had shown this innocent child (I had just came to the saving knowledge of God through his Son, Jesus) that this "loss" can mean also "abortion" I spoke up in class about this and total silence came over everyone, even the teacher. No one responded.
Listen to the Strong's concordance definition of the word "loss", which means, "miscarry, to bereave, be made childless, destroy, lose children, rob children, spoil and abortion." This will no doubt cause many to question what I am saying. I pray that God will open the eyes of the blind, even those in leadership. These words that I speak have been on my mind and spirit since the late 1980's. They are not easy words for me to speak, but God has given me permission to speak forth what he has shown be beginning in July 2000 and I must be obedient to him, whom I serve. May God have mercy on us all!
Here in Isaiah God makes it very clear that one form of his judgement is the "taking" of the children of the land. Godly or ungodly. This taking can come in many forms. One is miscarriage. One is by abortion. This is part of his judgement. Nothing else. The height of selfishness of man is displayed when God removes his hand from a people, allowing the sin of sins, to begin to manifest itself. That sin here, is the desire to protect and have for me, me, me!! Selfishness. Nothing more, nothing less. Those individuals who perform this horrible act are 100% selfish. Their thinking guides them to only please self. But why not? Most of their parents have been in this selfish mode for decades! The me generation. But the final scriptural conclusion is that it is a form of Gods judgement upon a people.
Many will say that when the courts took God out of the schools (removing of outward prayer) that all these things have come upon us. All you have to do is put prayer back in the schools and all will be Ok. This is a natural mindset when people do not know and understand the ways of God and his judgements. The removal of prayer had and still has nothing to do with all the horrible things which have come upon America and the church.
This issue of abortion speaks of the same thing that was evident in the lives of the people of Israel concerning the issue of "the abomination of homosexuality". (See my article on Homosexuality).
Listen to Isaiah 47:8, "therefore hear now this, you that are given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in your heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children." Isaiah 47:10 continues, "for you have trusted in your wickedness: you have said, None seeth me. Your wisdom and your knowledge, it hath perverted you; and you have said in your heart, I am, and none else beside me." These people began to be at ease in their attitude of serving God. They did not love their neighbor as God had told them to. They allowed everything from insurance problems to the government agencies to take care of the poor and the widow. The same attitude you see in the Book of Judges (Judges 19-21) and Genesis 19, where it is clear that the people began to become selfish in their actions and not follow God in the one command of LOVE. They didn't take the strangers in. They didn't take care of the poor and widow. They didn't have time for anything that took them away from their social actions or their vacations. Their selfishness was at its height. People and America as a whole, are only concerned with me, with me, with me. Their present day actions were dependent on their future. In other words, they saved for the future of their children (which is presumption), they save for their future retirement (which many such accounts will soon vanish), and they save for this or for that. Why? Because they can. Because the government, social agencies and social groups are taking care of the things that God said we as individuals are to do. Insurance, Social Security, welfare benefits and unemployment benefits are doing what we are supposed to do for others!
I remember that my dad said (he is 75) when he was younger, that if a neighbor during harvest was sick, the neighbors would come together and help get the harvest in and help with the farm animals. Then he said the farmers began to get insurance and the neighbors no longer needed to help because "insurance would take care of it". The same thing happened with Workers Compensation. People had no need to help people once the government stepped in and provided handouts and subsidies. Now I ask you, which is better? Which is better in the eyes of God? Which do you think God honors? Which honors God?
We allow the government to take care of the widows. What does God say? We allow the government or Red Cross or special ministries to take care of the cast-outs or poor. What does God say? We say that it is Ok to retire and thus retire from God and his works of Love. What does God say?
Some will say that I am stretching this issue in regard to this one command of LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR. I say go back and read these scriptures and the scriptures concerning Love Your Neighbour As Yourself in the New Testament.
Why is it that we think that these judgements of the Old Testament cannot happen to us? God does not change. His judgements are the same. The judgement that came upon the people of Isaiah 47 can and is come upon us here in America. Accept it.
We need to get back to the works of love among ourselves and yet continue in prayer towards God seeking his mercy. No amount of politicizing or new laws will change this judgement of God.
It is simple. Return to the Bible and discover what God says about loving one another. Is it that simple? Man in his natural strength (which most Christians walk in today) cannot do these acts of Love for the Father. It must be through an infusion of the Spirit of God to change our hearts back to the simple Love message of Jesus. It must be an act of God in turning us back to him.
Deuteronomy 27-28 gives us a statement concerning curses and promises to a people to whom God was speaking. But was this limited to the ones of the Old Testament? I think not! Read and compare what chapters 27-28 of Deuteronomy are saying. Listen to Deuteronomy 26:18-19, where God is speaking concerning chapters 27-28 of Deuteronomy, chapter 26:18-19, "and the Lord hath avouched you this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised you, and that shouldest keep all his commandments; and to make you high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that you mayest be an holy people unto the Lord your God, as he hath spoken." Does this apply to us, the New Testament church? If, not, why not? Are we not called a holy people in the new? Are we not suppose to be over other people because we are the people of God? Are we not called a peculiar people in the New? Are we not supposed to follow the one greatest commandment of Love Your Neigbour As Yourself?
Read Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28 again. Many of these curses are taking place even as we speak. The others will take place in the days ahead if we do not turn back to God and do his commandment of LOVE.
The primary reasons why these things are coming upon us, the issue of ABORTION and HOMOSEXUALITY, is that we are a very self-serving people. Serving ourselves and not God. We have allowed our children to be taught by the heathen. We allow them to act like the heathen. Our young women or girls care not for reproducing OUR kind. They care for their body shape, for their secular job advantage and promotion, for their rights, and for their future. The same holds true for our young men. Their ways are the ways of the world. We have done all this to ourselves!
There are some many scripture that speak to the issue of helping one another, helping our parents, the poor and stranger, that it will take way too long for this article.
Lamentation 5:21 says, "turn you us unto yourself, O Lord, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old." This should be our prayer. This should be our hope. If not, then we as America and as a people of God are doomed to continue to suffer the wrath and finally the whirlwind of the Lord. May God help us and be merciful to us, a rebellious people who call themselves by his name.
AUTHORS NOTE: I am not saying that these two judgements are the only ones that scripture speaks of. It is two of which I am speaking of because of the great attention given to them. Please seek God on this matter of which I have spoken.
