Below are some links you may find helpful in your quest for a hog and further knowledge.

Happy Hogs - This website belongs to the breeder of Hufflepuff. All of her hogs are registered and she definitely seems to do a great job of socialising them. I have found Bonnie to be nothing but helpful both prior to my purchase and now for aftercare advice. I would highly recommend this breeder.

Hedgebottom hedgehogs - The owner of this website is also the lady who runs the UK hedgehog registry. I haven't dealt with this breeder personally but have heard good reviews.

Thistle Hedgehogs - A lovely site belonging to a Scotland based breeder. Some nice photos and lots of useful information.

My favourite site at the moment. This site is a UK based site which benefits from the experience of lots of hoggie breeders, some of which have been breeding for years. Excellent place to take all of your hog related questions and to show off your pets.

Before taking the decision to purchase any animal it is vital that you read up and learn all that you can about them, this way you can ensure that they are the right pet for you and that you are going to be able to give them everything they need for a healthy, happy life.

When purchasing a hog I would strongly recommend that you visit a hobby breeder rather than purchasing from a pet shop. Hedgehogs need to be handled from an early age and regularly socialised in order to become well adapted pets and you will often find that pet shop owners simply do not have the time necessary to raise a good natured little APH. This is of course a generalisation and there may well be pet stores that produce terrific little hogs, it is just important to do your research before making the purchase.

Also it is advisable to purchase a registered hedgehog. This way you can be more certain that your hedgehog is not the result of inbreeding. Inbred hedgehogs are more prone to health problems and therefore inbreeding should be avoided at all cost.
