Let us consider what has happened due to the release of the movie Expelled http://www.expelledthemovie.com/The issues of Intelligent Design was brought to the attention of the public. This exposed how academia has been dealing with the issue. The ways that the evidence and honest scientific inquiry has been sidelined were just a few of the facets of the movie. These matters have been raging for a long time in closed academic circles for decades. The movie served to pull back the curtain and reveal some of the issues. These are not minor matters. This is not a trivial debate for scholars only. The ripples effect how science is taught to children of all ages. This impacts whether college students are allowed to ask honest questions about the theory of evolution and Intelligent Design. This involves whether honest questioning of the assumptions, tracks of reasoning and conclusions are open to thoughtful consideration.Taxpayer's money goes to fund state sponsored universities. An assumption is that those who use the public funds are upright, honest and open minded in the pursuit of the truth related to science.Sadly there is an abundance of emotionalism and attacking on both sides. There seems to be a shortage of objective examination of the evidence. It would be very useful for various people to put the key points and rebuttals of each side on a website. Let the cold text tell the story. Allow the hot tempers and silly distractions be separated from a comprehensive examination of the arguments on both sides.
The mathematics needed for fortunate chance mutations in the theory of evolution to be valid is rarely considered carefully. I heard the story of an astronomer that decided to run the numbers on the theory of evolution. It odds for the marco-evolution leaps that the artists so easily show in textbooks were far beyond all reason. He easily showed this to others in his field and they quickly agreed. So I do not understand why mathematicians and statisticians are not involved in presenting the strong case for Intelligent Design. The numbers have a major contribution to make. This could be done with tables of statistics, graphs and charts. The numbers for each calculation could be discussed online in forums and offline at conferences. Math does not care about politics, religion, tradition, personalities, reputations, status, history, tenure or any other human invention. Give the numbers a voice. What do they have to say?Beware of the spin doctors who can make black appear white. Drill down to the assumptions, data collection methods, formulas and minority reports.
The evolution of the eye, ear and wing require both physical and mental development. Until both facets are fully functional they have no real use. The theory of evolution says that undirected random chance did that without any design or external intelligence. Notice that according to the evolutionist the development of the eye, ear and wing developed in all kinds of animals all over the planet on their own. That includes birds, bats and insects. Wow is that a super abundance of luck? So where are the ones that are still transitioning today along that lucky curve? The theory of evolution requires that there be millions of fortunate accidents to get from one kind of animal and plant to the next. There would need to be transitional forms between each neat item on the artist's tree of life. That requires millions of slight transitional forms of every animal and plant from the beginning of life on earth. That means that there would be transitional forms alive today in nature as well as throughout the fossil record. I am not referring just to the missing link between ape and human. I refer to the trillions of missing links in the insect world, plant world and life at the microscopic level. Where are the ones that have eyes, ears and wings that are not yet functional?Every feather is an engineering wonder. Microscopes reveal the intricate nature of each type of feather. The functionality of every wing involves all kinds of intricate aerodynamics. Show me the primitive feathers and wings that are not as advanced as the working ones we have today. Explain how a bird would develop these on their own due to random chance. Before a wing was fully evolved it required huge amounts of energy and thus food that served no purpose for many years. Does that make sense?
