Sacred Heart 1 - Memorial Park Hatters 1

Today at Sacred Heart we started off really well but unfortunately Memorial Park Hatters scored after 5 minutes with a soft goal that was against the run of play.

We definetely missed the influence of Sam and Michael, but Dave organised the team to allow for this.

We didn't let this get us down and relly tried hard to equalise but without success.  The goal had given Memorial Park Hatters confidence and they came back into the game straight away.

At half time our manager told us that we were playing really well but we needed to

get more shots on target, so in the second half that is what we did.  Robert

Ryan was fowled at the edge of the box and Andrew stepped up to take

the freekick.  Dave shouted "That's going to be a goal for Andrew" and in

Beckham like style he stepped up and curled the ball into the top left hand

corner.  Andrew celebrated in 'Clint Eastwood' style with a trademark 2 pistol salute for the crowded touchline and we all gathered around to congratulate him.

We really thought we could win from here but Memorial Parks defence was excellent.

Shea was outstanding upfront, and put Memorial Park Hatters into misery.  James, Ciaran, Andrew, Scott and  Sean all played really well.  Robert may have found a new role as a midfield General.

Man of the match was definately Shea Burke.  Shea was outstanding and showed positive aggression, awareness and skill.  What a great player he's becoming.

Training as usual this  Wednesday at the Brache.

If we can play like we did today on a depleated team we will be a hard team to beat when all of us are available.

Dave is a great Manager.  Since he has been the Guvenor we have yet to lose.  Lets all try to make sure that Dave's record continues.

Stephan was ref today and was very fair.

Thanks to Memorial Park Hatters for a great game.
