| LATEST ON "WHO'S SORRY NOW" FILM:
Latina diva Gloria Estefan revealed that she has spent four years writing
a screenplay and she hopes to turn it into a movie starring Hollywood heavyweight
Danny DeVito, the Associated Press reported from Mexico City.
Entitled Who's Sorry Now?, the script tells the story of female American pop singer Connie Francis in the 1950s, Estefan said at the inauguration of a restaurant she has opened in the Mexican capital. ''The script is finished and is in the hands of several artists to see if somebody wants to film at the start of next year,'' Estefan said. She did not say who might direct or produce the movie.

GLORIA
ESTEFAN TO PLAY ROCK LEGEND
Veteran pop star GLORIA ESTEFAN has signed up to play CONNIE FRANCIS in a new biopic - despite worrying she might be too old to play the legendary singer. The Cuban-born 48-year-old has long felt she is the perfect choice to play Francis, who hit the charts in the 1950s and 1960s with songs such as WHERE THE BOYS ARE and WHO'S SORRY NOW. And Estefan is greatly looking forward to portraying the troubled star. Estefan tells the New York Daily News, "There's a lot of similarities, especially in her voice and mine. We had a very similar upbringing. The Italian and the Cuban, all the Latin cultures have a lot of things in common. "If I don't hurry, I'm going to be playing her mother in the movie!"
Also reported by various sources, Danny DeVito
is supposedly in the run to play Connie's father, George, and Olivia Dukakas
supposedly to play Connie's mom, Ida. Connie will also co-write the
movie with Gloria.
Battling a serious throat and ear infection, and dehydration Connie's three show concert at the Resorts International Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on April 5, 6 and 7, 2002 was a SRO sensation! Though this illness hampered the Friday night performance, by Sunday night the buzz around Resorts was that she brought the excitement back to the hotel.
Each show was oversold and was accompanied by overwhelming applause and numerous standing ovations by the audience, which included fans from the United States, England, Germany, and Holland.
During the engagement a cocktail party was given
in her honor and she was invited by Resorts to place here handprints in
cement (an honor not given to every celebrity who frequently performs in
Las Vegas) with an engraved star depicting the name Connie Francis.
