Beautiful Moments of Joy and Peace

Excerpts

Hidden Miracles

A miracle is waiting, hidden and concealed,

Waiting for the time when it can be revealed,

Filled with hope and promise of what it soon will be,

Unseen, not heard or felt, as yet a mystery.

It’s hidden in a seed, buried in the ground,

Awaiting the time when it’s potential will be found.

It’s also in a bulb that will one day be a flower,

And the water that will nourish it in a springtime shower.

It’s contained within an acorn, and provides the destiny

That causes it to grow and become a mighty tree.

It lies beneath the snow in the winter of the year,

Then resurrects in the spring when new life will appear.

It’s in a tiny cell that will divide and form a part

Of a new baby’s developing lungs and beating heart.

The hidden miracle that caused the world to come to be,

God’s love will continue through all eternity.

A MOMENT OF QUIET PEACE

Life too often is spent

in a great hurry and rush,

Without ever taking time

for a gentle, quiet hush,

Always staying busy

with activities that won’t cease,

Never finding a moment

for a calm, reflective peace.

Much of the beauty of nature

is found in quiet things,

Like softly falling snowflakes

and butterfly wings,

The petals that drop gently

from a lovely, fragrant rose,

Sweet calmness that descends on us

in times of deep repose.

The silence of day’s dawning,

when the grass is wet with dew,

Is a chance for meditating

on things both old and new.

Taking time to feel God’s presence

when all is calm and still

Can help us get our lives on track

and focus on God’s will.

NO MUSIC IN A REST

There is no music in a rest,

     only silence and expectation,

Forming a bridge between what was sung

     and the coming variation.

There’s a sudden pause in the flow of music,

     though the rhythm continues to flow;

Then the music continues as sure and steady,

     with tempos fast or slow.

The rests must never be omitted

or the piece just isn’t quite right.

The composer has a purpose for them,

     whether profound or slight.

The longer the duration of a rest,

the more impact the next section can make.

A tiny rest can be almost unnoticed

but is enough for a breath one can take.

The harmony of our lives must have

     these times of quiet rest,

A time to reflect on the past and what

for the future might be best.

There’s a sudden pause in the flow of our lives,

     though life goes on, steady and true;

Then, refreshed and restored, we continue on

to accomplish what we can do.

These times of rest must not be neglected

or our lives aren’t what they could be.

Our Creator has a purpose for them,

time to listen and feel and see.

Whether taken by choice or caused by illness,

     for pleasure or in pain,

If we make time for God our life’s melody can be richer;

    we have everything to gain.

"I like to write free verse poetry because my rhyming seems to have a stilted flow to it. Beautiful Moments of Joy and Peace by Connie Arnold banishes all such prejudice. I find her rhyme to be natural and comforting, like a hot cup of cocoa on a stormy night. Her poems center the soul and help shut out the chaotic noise in my head and in my life. "Serene" describes my mind-set after reading her work. Take time out for quiet reflection and peaceful musing with Beautiful Moments of Joy and Peace."

Book Review

“Beautiful Moments of Joy and Peace,” by Connie Arnold has to be some of the most inspiring, encouraging and uplifting poetry that I have ever read.  There is a God given message in each of Connie Arnold’s poems, and there is music in poetry as well as beauty and Connie Arnold has so elegantly shared that music and beauty with her readers.  Life is hard and has lots of pain, sadness and frustrations, but “Beautiful Moments of Joy and Peace,” will bring you back to the true source of joy and peace, which is our Heavenly Father.  Christian based, Godly poetry is hard to find and that is what sets this book above the rest.  You will want a copy of “Beautiful Moment of Joy and Peace,” for your personal library as you will find yourself reading this book time and time again, be refreshed and finding you way to the beauty that God has created.
