Welcome to Compass Quartet!
About us: Three of us are recent graduates from the Toledo School for the Arts in Toledo, Ohio; Darrek Hooser, 1st violin, Sadira Stelzer, 2nd violin, Dorothy Mars, viola. Niki Tsapranis, cello, is currently a Senior at the Toledo School for the Arts. We are all serious, accomplished musicians and enjoy performing beautiful music from our string instruments.
Our quartet has performed several times upon special request. We have performed prior to the Toledo Symphony's performance featuring solist violinist, Leila Josefowica on October 17-18, 2003, where we have been requested to play again. We have played for a high school graduation in 2004, and weddings in 2003, 2004 and 2005. We performed for Toledo Alive on May 1, 2004 and will be televised in New York and Hollywood. Recently we performed for Celebrity Wait Night for the Toledo Ballet Association, Masterworks Chorale and Toledo Jazz Society.
In addition to being a quartet, we were members of the TSA Orchestra under the direction of Diana Anderson and Jay Welenc. We have been in competition for OMEA and Music in the Parks where we were awarded with highest achievement marks available.
Our Purpose: Our intention is to provide beautiful music for special occasions.
