Finding our Voices—An Art Show

“Finding Our Voices” is a collection of art that tells the stories of survivors of sexual assault and others who have been touched by this crime of violence. CHANGE: Creating Community Healing, Action and Education.  Was a wonderful event and hope to do it again next year!  Thank you to all who participated.

Denim Day

Denim Day was started in 1999 when the Italian Supreme Court overturned the conviction of a 45-year-old rape suspect because his 18-year old victim was wearing jeans at the time of the assault.š The Court stated in its decision that “It is common knowledge...that jeans cannot even be partly removed without the effective help of the person wearing them...and it is impossible if the victim is struggling with all her might.” This verdict sparked outrage and protests around the world. This decision proves that the myths and stiitudes still exist when it comes to sexual assault. These myths continue to blame victims and prevent them from seeking help. Sexual violence is never the victims fault.

Join TESSA in educating the community about sexual assault and dispelling the myths and attitudes.

  • Talk to your family, friends, and co-workers about why you are wearing denim and why it is important to stand up against sexual assault.
  • Encourage your workplace to participate in denim day (please contact TESSA for educational literature)

What can 2-1-1 help you with?
