SSI for the Disabled, Homeless, and Elderly
We appreciate this worthwhile endeavor of assisting individuals in securing Social Security benefits and agree that this program is serving a population in need. We are glad to see that collaborative efforts are in place and encourage the agency to continue building these, especially with other agencies focused on the homeless population. The committee's concern is that the approach may not be the most effective and efficient method. Although we understand the transient nature of the individuals typically served by this program, we were disappointed at the lack of evidence of tangible results. Given the limited funds available, that created an important competitive disadvantage for the proposal. We encourage the agency to explore other models of service delivery in hopes of finding an evidence-based model that allows you to track the progress and successes of transient clients more closely.
