On the first day there was nothing. (Insert the story of creation here, adapt it as you will...) Then God created marching band and was immensely satisfied. He got his marching band through football season with a spectacular halftime show, and then...

Months after God had created His marching band, the colorguard was practicing alone in the grass. Their flags spun beautifully and they caught all their tosses... but it seemed like they had lost their sparkle. The guard looked lackluster.

"What's wrong?" God asked with concern. His colorguard had performed wonderfully with the marching band all throughout the football season, and they had no reason to be unhappy. "We're bored!" they cried, "and we have nothing to do, no where to perform!" God told them that he would take care of it. So...

God gave the colorguard new music. This music was not performed by the band, but was something that you might hear on the radio. In fact, many of the guard members had heard the song on the radio. "Thank you, thank you!" they told the Lord. They quickly began choreographing a routine to their new music.

"Wait, wait, wait," He told them, "I'm not done yet!" He went away for awhile, and when He returned, His arms were full of fabric for new flags and outfits. "You must have new materials, so that you can have flags and outfits to match your music!" The guard was ecstatic, and quickly got to work sewing their new things. A few hours later, they called to God, "See what we've done?"

God told them to put their flags and outfits together with their rifles and sabres so they could see what they had created. Without the band, the colorguard was even more stunning than usual... God was very impressed.

However, with only the impersonal music recording backing them up, God thought that the guard need more expression to compensate. He gave them dance, so that they might use their bodies to awe their audience. He was very pleased with their talent for movement.

Seeing as though the colorguard was now performing as an individual group, separate from the band, he decided to give them their own name. He called His group the winterguard. When they asked Him what exactly what "winterguard" was, He told them that since it required music, dance, drama, and expression, it was a fine art... but since it required athleticism, agility, strenth, and endurance, it was also a sport. Therefore, He deemed it "the sport of the arts".

Before their show could be completed, the winterguard had to have the finishing touches. God gave them props to hide their equipment behind and a floor so they always knew where their spots were. The winterguard really appreciated these special additions and told God, "Now our show is ready to be performed!"

God wanted to give the winterguard a place to perform their show... He did not want to keep their majesty all to himself. So, He created the winterguard competition. This was a place where many winterguards could come together to perform their shows. He divided it into all sorts of classes so that His guard would fit perfectly. They performed their show and enchanted the crowd.

At the end of the competition, His winterguard was named the champion unit. He gave them a trophy, medals, and banner, so that they might forever showcase their amazing victory. They gave Him "a million thanks" and knew that they were blessed to be part of such an awesome sport-slash-art.

All of a sudden, the winterguard realized that the season was over and it was almost time for... gasp! ... SUMMER BAND CAMP! They geared up for the grueling summer heat, and put their winterguard supplies away until next season...

And that is the story of creation (continued).
