Nick - The Bot With A Brain
Created By: Avi Sanders
Current Release: 2.1
2006 - 2007
Nick is, by definition, an implementation of adaptive mechanisms known as
"Artificial Neural Networks". These are computerized emulations of the
functionality of the mamalian central nervous system. While these emulations
are by no means exact replications, they are quite capable of adapting to
input they are exposed to. In this implementation, the input is text, and
digital images. The neural networks make associations between related items,
and uses these associations to apply understanding to unpredictable situations.
Nick uses these neural networks as the engine behind its ability to learn how
to communicate, and assign visual meaning to words.

Here, we shall cover some resources having to do with AI.
A few sites:
http://www.personalityforge.com - a site for creating Chatterbots, which are
programs that speak in human language by a conditional framework
configured to mirror intelligence.
http://www.chatterboxchallenge.com - an annual AI contest, where people submit their AI creations to be judged and put up for public vote. This is a good place to get objective feedback on your AI project. Also, this is a good place to get a feel for which techniques others have tried, and which ones work best in which situations. Basically a global melting pot of AI chatterbots.

http://www.alicebot.org - an organization dedicated to the advancement of AI
http://www.cyc.com - a company that has created a remarkable database of
relational knowledge, for use in intelligent software.
