Del 15 al 20 de abril de 2007, en Florianópolis, Brasil, tuvo lugar el XII Congreso Latinoamericano de Ciencias del Mar, evento cumbre de los investigadores latinoamericanos en todas las ramas de la oceanografía. El Programa EcoMar presentó los resultados de sus últimas investigaciones con la ponencia Distribución y abundancia relativa de las ballenas jorobadas en la Bahía de Samaná y el póster Primer inventario de la biota marina de la  Isla Hispaniola. Un acontecimiento especial fue el lanzamiento latinoamericano de libro Datos sobre las ballenas jorobadas de la Bahía de Samaná, presentado antes en República Dominicana. En la reunión bianual de la Asociación Latinoamericana de Investigadores en Ciencias del Mar ALICMAR, EcoMar tuvo el honor de ser seleccionada para representar a la República Dominicana ante dicha organización.

During April 15 to 20, 2007, in Florianópolis Brazil, took place the  XII Latin American Congress of Marine Sciences, summit of the Latin American researchers in all oceanography branches. Programa EcoMar presented the results of its last investigations with the paper Distribution and relative abundance of humpback whales in the Samaná Bay and the poster First inventory of the marine biota of Hispaniola Island.  A very special  moment was the Latin American launching of our  last book Humpback whale data from the Samana Bay, which had been presented first in the Dominican Republic. In the bi-annual meeting of the Latin American Association of Marine Sciences Researchers ALICMAR, Programa EcoMar had the honor of being selected to represent Dominican Republic in this scientific organization.
