  •  Fenn

Grandpa Cecil Earl Fenn was born around 1900-1905 and there is no birth certicate at that time in Alabama. His parents were Anna Stone and William Frank Fenn of Macon County, removed to Bullock County, Alabama, former Creek Territory. His mother divorced his father and remarried a Carter, giving Cecil that surname. Cecil told his children that his grandfather was an indian chief but this author has not found any documentation to either his parents or adopted father. However, Cecil, claiming to be half indian, had thick black hair and black piercing eyes, and a very dark complection. His military records from Fort Bliss describe him as tall with a dark ruddy complexion. His death certificate verified his parentage and that his brother Emmett Fenn signed for it. .

Cecil married Alice McClain of Ramer and had three very dark children during his short life. Alice died giving birth to the third and Cecil died four years later. Both are buried at Memorial Cemetery in Montgomery, near their three children. * His children lived with the parents of Alice and attended school in Montgomery, Alabama.

Only a few pictures exist of the Fenn children and Cecil was a tall handsome man.  His siblings stood about 6'6" and also had pretty dark features.

Photo of Cecil http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/grandpacecilearlcarter.jpg and one of his wife http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/AliceMcClainWifeOfCecilEarlFennCarter1925

Cecil's death certificate reveals his parents and his wife Alice http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/DeathCertificateOfCecilEarlFennCarterBorn1900 and his grave still has no headstone that was ordered twice from the VA http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/FennCecilsGraveWithoutStone-VAsentStoneAndLostAtTheOffice

Cecil's children look very much like the photo of brother Frank Fenn http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/1941WmLCarter-Billy-brotherOfAnneAndCecil http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/FennGrandchildAnnieCarter http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/1941CecilEarlCarterJr-sonOfAliceAndCecilFennCarter - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/WmLawrenceCarter-Billy-SonOfAliceAndCecilsr.bmp - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/1934cecilEarlFennCarterwithjrandannielee  - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/AnniesBrotherCecilCarter.jpg but Cecil himself in this photo also resembles his brother very much http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/cecilcarterseniorOnLeftWithRifleAtFortBliss1925 and his military discharge papers indicate a dark ruddy complexion http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/FennCecilEarlCartersMilitaryDischarge.jpg and then his obituary indicates a possible relative as pall bearer, Walter Stone http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/FennCecilsObituary

Brother Frank Fenn Jr received a picture of a baseball player, a cousin, who played one season 1923 with the St Louis Cardinals, from his mother Anna in Macon Georgia and it was William Arthur Stone, according to his children, the house caught fire and all was lost but I have found William's headstone in Florida http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/AnnaStoneFENNsNephewWmAStonegrave.jpg

Cecil Carter Jr had one daughter and Billy had no children http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~kc90853/FENN/FennGrandchildVictoriaCarter
