Camp Swatara--East Area ~ Bethel, PA ~ November 3 ~ 2 to 9 PM
Details: This event is COMPLETED...IN REVIEW: This new event kicked off our District youth activities presented by the 2007-08 Cabinet! We gathered for an afternoon tournament of volleyball, ate a cookout supper together, shared time around a campfire, and enjoy a new night game called Puzzle Play. 36 youth representing 7 churches were in attendance. Even our District Executive Craig Smith and District Vice-Chair of the Board Wendi Butterfoss joined in the volleyball fun! Thank you to all who came...see ya at the Winter Retreat!

Camp Swatara ~ Bethel, PA ~ January 18 - 20 ~ 6:17 p.m. to noon
Details: This event is COMPLETED...IN REVIEW: This annual event was enjoyed by 165 youth & advisors from 20 congregations! We enjoyed 3 speakers on the topic of "Will I Ever Understand...?" and 10 insight session leaders on hard-hitting topics underneath the theme such as depression, human sexuality, war n' peace, and many more. The kids really had a great time of fellowship, worship, and learning over the course of this weekend.
Mack's Moonlit Mobile Meal Madness
Concludes at Mt. Zion Rd COB ~ March 7-8 ~ 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Details: This event is COMPLETED...IN REVIEW: This new combination event brought together 67 Youth and 17 Advisors. We enjoyed appetizers @ Annville, soup @ Midway, salad @ Lebanon, and pasta @ Mt. Zion Rd. At the Lock-In, held at our last stop, a volleyball and basketball tournament was held, board games were played, and a movie was watched. Some people even got a few winks of sleep! Thanks to all for a great night!

Details: This year's theme is "Will I Ever Understand...{you fill in the blank(s)}?" Entries can be written or typed, but should be less than 10 minutes in spoken delivery. Top 3 winners will receive Amazon.com gift cards and top available winner will present message at District Conference 2008. Snail mail flier was already sent.
Service Project
Greater Philadelphia Cares ~ Philadelphia ~ May 3 ~ 9 am - 12 pm
Details: The organization of Greater Philadelphia Cares will find a non-profit agency for our group to serve in the Philly area. Look for a flier to come any day! Please act fast as the registration deadline is April 5th, due to allowing GPC enough time to place such a large group. There is no cost for this event and we will serve rain or shine!

Details: COMPLETED...This year's event theme was "Texting God: No Cell Phone Required (about prayer)." Among other things, we each created a personally modified Lord's Prayer and learned that G.O.D. (short for gratitude, openness, and depth) is a great acronym reminder for a meaningful prayer life. 66 youth and 19 advisors/leaders from 11 churches participated!
Lock-in (theme: Prayer Rocks!)
Lebanon Valley College ~ Annville, PA ~ February 1-2 ~ 10:15 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Details: COMPLETED...This year's event theme was "Prayer Rocks!" Nate Hackman of East Fairview COB led a session on the topic and we enjoyed some large group games on the topic as well. Over 250 youth and advisors from 24 congregations enjoyed this event! We swam, played, fellowship, ate, and a few even slept:) See you next year!
Service Project
Ephrata, PA ~ Material Resources Center ~ March 29 ~ 9 am to 11:59 a.m.
Details: COMPLETED...25 youth from 5 churches joined together to tear and rip old jeans for a quilt project (makes you curious doesn't it!), to put together health kits and school kits, and to sort materials for a recycling project. We also got a tour of the facility and heard stories of how the work of MCC affects people all over the world. Thanks for coming out to serve!
Pool Party
Refreshing Mountain Camp ~ Stevens, PA ~ July 12 ~ 3 to 7 p.m.
Details: We will gather for an afternoon of swimming, on-site recreation opportunities, and a cook-out/devotional meal time. Expect snail mail flier May 10. Registration deadline is July 12 at $7 per youth with the "at the door" price being $10 per person.

Easter Great Outdoor Resurrection Party
French Creek S.P. ~ Elverson, PA ~ March 21-22 ~ 4 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Details: CANCELLED...Sadly we were uncertain about the weather and decided camping in the cold, wind, and rain/snow didn' sound too exciting. Look for this again next year when Easter is in April and hopefully warmer!
National Young Adult Conference: Come to the Mountain
Estes Park, Colorado ~ August 11-15
Details: This is the once every four years Denominational huge event! Though it does cost some $$$, it is a fantastic event worthy of your attendance. Begin saving your pennies now and check out the Denomination's website for more details. Visit www.nyac08.org for registration and info. Of special note this year, Camp Swatara has arranged a bus trip which will leave early AM August 10 and arrive back PM August 16th. Essentially, it is an "out and back" quick bus that provides you the comfort of not driving, flying, or worrying about the travel part. The cost is $325 round trip. District Conference is the annual gathering of delegates and interested parties to E-town College's Leffler Chapel. Insight sessions, business meetings, presentations, displays, Bible studies, etc. are common elements. This year, 2 of the 3 Youth Message Contest winners will be presenting their messages to the conference on Saturday morning. October 12-13. For more info, click here.
Explore Your Call is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This event is sponsored (usually) annually by Bethany Theological Seminary and is virtually free to students. This week long event takes place (probably) June 21-25 at Shepherd Springs Camp in Sharpsburg, MD. EYC is a place where you can . . .think about how God is calling you to use your gifts, learn how to make life choices in relation to your faith, and make connections with other youth who are hearing God's call. The Creation Festival is an annual gathering of contemporary Christian music stars and speakers in an open-field setting in mid-Pennsylvania. Often groups will camp out together for the event. If you have never gone, picture a Christian version of Woodstock and you will have a pretty decent representation. Click here for information from the official Creation 2008 webpage.
The 2008 Annual Conference for the Church of the Brethren will be held in Richmond, VA. ANE's own Jim Beckwith will serve as the Moderator. Annual Conference offers events for junior high, senior high, and young adults. This year's is extra special, as we are celebrating the 300th Anniversary of the COB. Of particular interest to youth may be the Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning AC portion, which would include a festival, Ken Medema (twice!), and a service project blitz. Check out the official webpage for information of interest to you...much of which is released in March.
