update from Norm July 15th

Hi All:
I continue to recover from brain surgery. At times I get impatient with the speed of recovery. I get tired easisly & sleep alot. Have to remind myself that I had brain surgery, a long and serious operation.

But....I can walk without shuffling, foot dragging; I can stand for several minutes, and roll over in bed.  Basically all of my gross motor functions have improved 100% or more.
I've been able to eliminate some medications, and cut back on others.

I think it will take the rest of summer before I'm able to put alot of time into CPJ. There's no point pushing my self too hard, and having a setback. I'm seeing the doctors on 7/27 and will know more then.

Peace,

Norm

Attention Camden/Burlington activists/members:

I would like to meet with everyone, perhaps at the Cherry Hill Mall food court following the weekly peace vigil, to discuss how we can get folks more active, and how to coordinate events and actions already happening in the area. We have a large number of members in Cam/Burl. We should be lobbying Andrews and Runyon, doing letters to the editor, etc.  If you are interested in geting together, and trying to rebuild the Cam/Burl chapter, please email me back.

NORM'S HOME

Following is an Email that Norm sent out to everybody on July 1st.  This is being posted in case you didn't get the email.

"Hi all
I came home last night. Surgery was successful. Post-Op work to program the stimulator will take a number of months. I.m still feeling the effects of the surgery  so I'll be taking  it easy the next couple of weeks.
Thanks  so much for all of the emails, cards, letters, etc. It means a great deal to me that so many of you cared, and offered support to me.  My typing is  dreadful -  its taken 30 minutes to type this short note, so

I'll get back to  all next week."

NORM'S SURGERY GOOD NEWS!!!

Many of you are aware that today (June 27th) Norm had  a surgical procedure called "DBS", or Deep Brain Stimulation.
Karen gave the good news that the surgery was successful and the doctor said it was "wonderful".
He's at Pennsylvania Hospital, in Philadelphia and he'll be in intensive care overnight, at least, and in the hospital for around 4 days.
Norm, Karen and their family thank you for all your prayers.   They can feel the power of these prayers and they ask that all prayers be continued until Norm is fully recovered from the surgery.

Karen said she'll give us an update within 24 hours.

The website below explains the procedure in some detail.

This procedure will hopefully help Norm control the symptoms of his Parkinson's Disease.
