History of Circle K
Circle K International is a collegiate service organization with a
worldwide membership that promotes service, leadership, and
fellowship. Each Circle K club is sponsored by at least one
Kiwanis Club, and are a part of a district. For CNU Circle K, we
are sponsored by Peninsula at Oyster Point Kiwanis and Warwick
Kiwanis. Christopher Newport University is located in the Capital
District and more specifically theTidewater-64 Division along with
four other neighboring universities including Old Dominion University,
Virginia Wesleyan College, Norfolk State University, and
The College of William and Mary.
More about Service
Service is one of the most important things we do in Circle K.
In Circle K, service is an activity you do without compensation,
meaning you participate in the activity with no real incentive.
Over the year, Circle K'ers have done over a million hours of
service on campus and within their community. The goal is simple,
to make the world a better place!
More about Leadership
In Circle K, there are many opportunities for members to take on
leadership roles, either through serving on the district board or
international board, or serving a leadership position in your own
club. The leadership opportunities offer Circle K'ers a chance to
become active citizens once they graduate from college.
More about Fellowship
In Circle K, we love to hold events with our neighboring Circle K
clubs. We develop friendships with our clubs in our division as
well as our district; we also develop relationships with our
Kiwanis sponsors.
...that's totally awesome, here's the scoop!
Join us at our weekly meetings are Monday Nights in Student
Center, Room 214 at 7:00pm. The only requirement other than
paying dues is that you complete 10 hours of community service,
and with as many of our service projects we have going on, it's
not that difficult to get the hours needed. From Bingo to
volunteering at Warwick Forest Retirement Home and everything in
between you shouldn't have a problem finding something that you
like to do. Want more information, don't hesitate to contact one
of our Co-Membership Vice Presidents, Miriam Upton, at
miriam.upton.04@cnu.edu or Meghan Linehan at
meghan.linehan.05@cnu.edu or our Club President, Mallory Martin,
at mallory.martin.04@cnu.edu.
We look forward to seeing you real soon!
Just come to one of our meetings and we can guarentee
you'll have a great time!
