It’s time for a round of Musical! versus Book! Whoo-hoo! Who will come out the champion? Only time (and this page) will tell.
The prize for today?
The winner will be forever declared, “Ultimate Super-Wank of the Universe.” The rules are simple; whoever has the LEAST points wins the title of Wankiest (NOT to be confused with swankiest).
So we begin!! (*disclaimer note: this is not a real game, therefore any excitement you do not feel is in no way my responsibility. I’m a law student. TRY suing me. Go on. Try. I dare you. Go on. Do it. I’m waiting. No? That’s what I thought.)
ROUND ONE : Characters :
Sub-round one : Valjean
Book! : Book!Valjean is sort of like he is in the musical, partly because he is one of the hardest characters to screw up in history ever, ever. He is sweet, benign, somber, soft-spoken, and still capable of incredible hatred. I mean pity. I mean love. I mean...never mind. Valjean is tormented, faced with the impending loss of Cosette to Marius, and his freedom to Javert. He is moody, his life becoming meaningful only when Cosette is around. He is sensitive; when Cosette is sad, he feels her grief. He thinks nothing of himself without Cosette, which only serves to fuel his almost homicidal rage toward Marius. He is ecstatic when he learns that Marius will die--and grief-stricken when he realizes that Cosette will surely wither and die without Marius. It is his love for Cosette that allows him to rescue Marius, in what is truly his most touching and heroic moment.
Musical! : Musical!Valjean is still tormented and faced with a butt-load of tough choices, but ones that only ever seem to touch on his freedom and/or imprisonment. Because really, who needs all that emotional crap? God, the man gets three whole solos. Do we really need any more? I think not. Depth? Characterization? Whoza-whazit? Bah.
Winner : Musical!
