Suggestions:

When making an application to adopt a pet...
Don't refer to the pet as an "IT" because the owner prefer them as a he or she. and ~~think~~ know they do have feelings.
Do not use chatspeak or StIcKy CAPS because some people throw a fit if they see it.
Provide why you want to adopt the pet. Don't just say 'because it's color is awesome' or 'because i can get an avatar from it'
Tell what makes you a good owner.
