New Sponsor

We have added a new sponsor to our site.  It is Daniel Chapter One health products.  When you make a purchase using the link above we will receive 20% of your total order to help pets like:

Darwin:  A lovely senior border collie mix  boy who loves to carry things around, especially his food and water dish.  He is a real sweetheart and would really like a home and family to call his own.  He does well around older children but loves to bark at cats.  Would be best to be an only dog.

Kenny:  A shy older shepherd cross boy who just needs to know he is loved.  He takes his time to trust you but is a real lover boy.  He is laid back except when a cat crosses his path.  A home without other pets to intimidate him would be perfect.  He needs a home that will take plenty of time to gain his trust and just love him.

Napoleon:  A young boxer mix boy who is just a wonderful dog.  He just adores to be petted and scratched under his chin.  When he wags his stubby tail his whole behind wags as well.  He is such a happy boy.  He would also do better with no other pets, and with older children.

We also have an assortment of cats:  Frodo who thinks the world revolves around him, Julian who is a large lap boy, and Marona who loves the lap or the back of your chair.  She is sometimes insistant.

RESCUE RAILROAD

Sunday my husband and I did something a little different.   We are just one leg of a rescuerailroad for dogs, cats and other small critters.

The railroad takes these homeless and unwanted dogs and cats andtransports them to where they have a thoroughly checked out, safe, andloving home, foster home or a safe shelter.

Sunday’s transport is from MI to Co. The drivers volunteer and usetheir own vehicles and gas.     None of the legs are very long.  Mostare under 100 miles.  The stretch of highway that we do is verysparsely populated so we do quite a few of these runs.

I really admire the people who pull this all together.  Theirtireless work is all that is between life and death for these wonderfulpets.

Our hope and wish is that someday there will be no need for ourrailroad.  That all pets would have safe homes where they are loved andappreciated, and that no more pets would be abused ever again.

If you would be interested in helping in your area please email meat cletascrittercompanions@yahoo.com and I will send you information onplacing your name on the list of volunteers.

Can anyone help?

We have a young man who has had a hard life.  He is diabetic and has lost his sight as well as one leg.  He has been through dialisys and has been placed in a nursing home.

He has two dogs that the family cannot care for.  One is a German Shepard mix and the other is mostly Irish Setter.

I don't have photos yet but will be getting them soon.

I don't have room for them and would like to find a foster home until a permanant one can be found.  They are both outside dogs and get along with each other.  They have spent most of their lives chained in a back yard.

If you can help with either one or both please contact me at cletascrittercompanions@yahoo.com with Jerry's dogs in the subject line.

Thank you

ANGEL PET TREE SURPRISE

I recieved the proceeds from the Oakley veterinary Service's Angel Pet Tree.  This was a complete surprise to me.  I walk in to pick up two dogs and walk out with two dogs and a check.  I was thrilled.  This will help with the vet expenses that every animal caretaker needs.  Thank You Very Much People of Oakley and Thank You Oakley Vet Service.

We took an old 12x58 foot mobile home and gutted it.  Then we started by placing a support beam down the center of the ceiling, 6 ft from each side.  The legs on the beam will be the corner braces for each of the indoor 'rooms' . These 'rooms' each will be 5x6 ft with a 'doggy door' to an outside pen.  Above the 'doggy door' will be a wide ledge for beds.  There is also a large entry room with a tub on a raised platform for ease of bathing, and counter as well as an office area with lots and lots of storage for everything I could possibly need.

This is the view of the front of the 'trailer' from the cat room area.  there will be two seperate cat rooms with access to outside covered pens.  These rooms will have ledges over and in front of the large windows that are in the old living room area.

Work, work, work

Our new 'doghouse' is coming along quite nicely.  We have the rear half of the mobile home gutted and are ready to start putting the walls in for the indoor pens.  There is a nice sized room 12X10 that will be the entry to the doghouse as well as the grooming and med room.  There is a tub and a long counter available in it with lots and lots of drawers and shelves.

Each pen will have a heatlamp and seperate heated waterbowls and the self feeders and will be 10X6 foot with a 10X10 outdoor pen attached.

I will need old sofa cushions for beds in each pen.  There will be 5 pens.  4 for the dogs and one at the south end with all the windows for the cats.

I also have a 4 unit 'condo' doghouse that I am getting prepared so I will have 4 more pens.

Soon we will be ready and have a nice facility.  All I will need to do will be the landscaping.

Great News!

All of our new kids found a home.  That was the easiest work we have done.

Joey is in a foster home where he can stay cool for the summer and warm this winter.  He has a senior lady dog as a pal when his foster dad is away.  He is really enjoying his new home.

Tote is our latest pet of the Month.  She was housed with Joey and really misses him.  She has a piece of his old blanket she carries around with her.

Tote needs a home with an active family, ie, biking, hiking, running, etc. as she loves to run and play.  This would help her get over Joey.  She is really a sweet dog and loves to be petted and loved.

We have some new kids on the block.

We have 8 boys and girls that were born 11/24/07.  They are Border Collie and Labrador Retreiver mix.  All are black with white markings, all are healthy, friendly, and looking for that special boy or girl to play with.

These will be medium to large size when grown, with short to medium length fur.  Both breeds are active and require lots of energy to keep up with them.  They will make wonderful jogging partners for those who love to run or jog.

DARWIN- Running Buddy of the Week

Posted by cletascrittercompanions at 12:44 AM on January 24, 2008 Comments comments (0)

Do you love to run?  This week we have Darwin.  Darwin is full of energy and literally bounces off the walls.

He loves to run the length of his pen and bounce his front feet off the wall of the doghouse to get him going in the reverse direction.  Darwin has enough energy to keep up with a family with very active older kids.

He loves to carry his food dish around just because he looks cute.  He is full of personality.

Come check us out and see if we have your next best friend.

Say I Love You

Posted by cletascrittercompanions at 02:16 PM on January 15, 2008 Comments comments (0)

Valentines day is coming soon.  There is no better way to say "I love you" than to give the gift of good health.

You can give good health by getting a walking buddy for 'the love of your life'.  You are also saying 'I love you' to a wonderful new pet.

Find the shelter nearest you and adopt a best friend.  This wonderful friend will listen to your every word and greet you at the door when you come home from work.  He will sit by the fire with you and lay nearby while you read or watch t.v.  He will also be ready to go walking with you whenever you want.  No complaining 'its too cold or hot' or 'I'm too tired'.

We have several wonderful walking buddies available to come and try out.

Joey is our Senior, who would be perfect for a senior.  He prefers to lay around and just listen to you talk.
