We, the authors of this website, are students in UC Clermont's Look to Clermont Class of 2006. The Look to Clermont program is a division of Clermont 20/20, inc. The Look to Clermont class, which is made up of two students from every high school in Clermont County, is a class designed to train the future leaders of Clermont County. Through the Look to Clermont class, students develop the responsibility, organization, awareness, dedication, and communication skills necessary to be an effective leader in today's society.
At the beginning of the year, the students in this class were divided up into several project groups. Each group was then given a broad project topic. The groups were given free reign in designing and completing their projects as they wished. The only real requirement for the project was that it must benefit Clermont County is some way, shape, or form.
Our group was assigned the topic "Historic Preservation and Restoration." To carry out our project, we decided to create a website about the history of Clermont County. We decided to produce an informaitonal website because most people in our community have no idea about Clermont County's rich and interesting history. A majority of people in this area think that Clermont County is just another average, boring farm county in southern Ohio. This, in fact, is not true. Clermont County and its history are actually filled with strange occurences, famous people, legendary sites, and unforgetable events. Our group's intention in creating this website is to make more people aware of Clermont County's valuable and amazing history.
This website is focused towards middle school and high school students. We incorporated several things into this website to make it as interesting as we could make history for teenagers. When designing our website, we considered what we and our fellow students thought was vital to creating a website that appeals to teenagers, such as ourselves. We wrote in language that is easy to understand and we used lots and lots of pictures. As any teenager doing research from a website will tell you, pictures are key.
To navigate this site and learn more about Clermont County, click on the links in blue at the very top of the page. There are six links to other pages of the website (Basic Info, People, Interesting Facts, Hauntings, Historic Places, and Links), so just click on the one that most interests you.
We spent a lot of time doing research and putting this website together. We hope you enjoy our website and that it aids you in your quest for knowledge about the history of Clermont County.
