HOME COUNTIES WINTER RIDDEN SHOW 2007 - OPEN RIDDEN CLASS WINNER & OPEN CHAMPION
LONGWOOD WINTER RIDDEN SHOW - SUPREME RIDDEN CHAMPION
He was purchased by us from Michael Anderson in April 2005 just by chance when we went to view a show wagon, I had looked over the door at him and had told Dave not to buy him because he was a midget, little did I know that the stable was below the outside ground level so it made him look like he was 13.2. Luckily Dave completely ignored what I said (as usual I hear you say) and the deal was done, we bought blackjack AND the wagon!!
Blackjack had never been shown, he was used occassionally for the odd road drive when Michael wasnt working. We set about getting him fit (the horse not Dave) and topped up with The Royal Welsh Wagon Class in mind. Blackjacks first show was at Basildon where he came 2nd and reserve show champion, a result that was very pleasing to us. He then went to Towerlands in June for the EWPCA show where he stood 3rd in the wagon class.
So after owning him for barely 3 months and having only contested 2 driving shows we took him to Wales to try our luck. Royal Welsh Tuesday came all to quickly and nervously we harnessed blackjack up and walked him to the ring. In the first line up we were pulled in 3rd, which we were really chuffed with and were hoping we could stay there. Blackjack did his show and then once all the other stallions had shown their paces, the judge decided to send the first three back out again.
I could hardly control my shaking legs as I watched Dave send blackjack on around the ring, the more the crowd cheered the higher and better the horse went, I nearly passed out when we were pulled in first place!!! What an achievement and with a horse that we had done all our self. Then on to the championship. Again the more the crowd cheered the more the horse showed himself off.
They were being pulled in, in reverse order and I could hardly contain my nerves or excitement as the horses were being pulled in one by one, finally there were just 3 cobs left going round, then two, then the unthinkable we were pulled in champion!!! Its a feeling I can never explain, to hear the crowd cheering us on and watching dave with our horse winning one of the most prestigious driving championships at his first attempt.
Blackjack is available to public stud however we do not use him 3 weeks before RWAS. He is surely a must for anyone who wants to breed a true all round performance cob.

Midlands In Hand Yearling Champion 2004
Amateur Home Produced Champion & Reserve Clinwil Supreme & Best 2/3 yr Old Colt 2005
Amateur Home Produced Champion & Clinwil Supreme Champion & Best 2/3 yr Old Colt 2006
Rebel was sold by Peter and Lesley Hussey to the Dycott Stud in 2003 as a yearling with another yearling colt by Dabernon Icon, which we sadly lost. We purchased Rebel a couple of days after Clare and George had picked them up from Dabernon Stud and he was a scruffy little thug!! He hadnt had much done to him and was unshown, due to lesley and peters other commitments. He was bought for me to show as I had injured my hand and couldnt hold a Section D, mind you Rebel could have given one of them a run for their money as he had a really big chip on his shoulder!!
His first show was at EWPCA at Towerlands where he exploded round the ring and won his class, he was unbeaten all season winning at the National Championships at Shrewsbury and being Supreme Yearling Champion at The Midlands, beating 21 other breeds of yearlings, not a bad achievement!!
He had an even better season as a two year old winning at Glanusk, NPS Area XI, NPS Area 14, EWPCA, Home Counties etc and then being Supreme Home Produced Champion and Clinwil Reserve Supreme Show Champion at the Midlands and winning the Parvadean Dante Memorial Trophy for best 2/3 Year Old Colt.
Last Year as a Three year old his show season was cut short due to him deciding that he could buck in harness, in which he put his leg over the shaft, which unfortunately snapped due to his weight and impaled itself into his leg. After a hefty vet bill and gallons of tears from me, he came sound to attend the Midlands and become Supreme Amateur Home Produced Champion again and this time go one better and become Clinwil Supreme Show Champion as well as winning the Parvadean Dante Memorial Trophy for best 2/3 year old colt.
We keep in touch with Lesley and Peter and they are always pleased and supportive no matter what we do. So thanks lesley for always being at the end of the phone and for breeding a pony that is MY pony of a lifetime.
He produced a stunning strawberry roan filly with four white stockings and blaze, last year when put to our Blackhill section A Mare, Eirona who was sold when we were told by our vet that she wasnt in foal. When we found out she was infoal we did try and buy her back and/or the foal, however she belonged to Mr J Chickens grand daughter and she did not want to sell either of them.
We were assured that we would have first refusal on the foal should she no longer want her, however the filly now has been sold to the Dycott Stud and registered with their prefix.
REBEL HAS NOW HEARTBREAKINGLY BEEN SOLD - I WISH HIS NEW OWNERS BEN & LUCY HOBDEN OF THE THORNETOWN STUD A VERY SUCCESSFUL LIFE WITH HIM. TAKE CARE OF MY BOY
SOLD - BROADLEY NOBLEMAN (D) - SOLD

by Derwen Royal Express
Dave has always been an admirer of Culhwch and his sire Crugybar Mabon Mai, so when he spotted this 2 yr colt for sale he had to go and give him a look. So after a couple of telephne calls and emails, Dave, myself and a long suffering Archie trundled off to Hereford to have a look.
I am sure Lucy of the Broadley Stud wont mind us saying that "brad" as we have nicknamed him, was a complete muppet and didnt make her job very easy when she was trying to show off his paces, he was trying to turn himself inside out bucking and looping at the end of the lunge line. However once he had chilled himself out his tail went up over his back, head up and nostrils flared, he really did look a picture. No surprise really as he is bred out of two Royal Welsh Winners.
So the deal was done and he was loaded up to start his journey back to Essex, much to his disgust!! I think if Archie would have had the choice he would have rather taken home one of the cows!!
He will be lightly shown this year time permitting and will be available to a limited number of mares this season.
STUD FEE £200.00
HE HAS NOW BEEN SOLD THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OWN TO MRS. LISA WILDE - HOWEVER ALL STUD ENQUIRIES WILL REMAIN WITH US
