2003, CCCC vs Traditional Courses
Couple of injury problems meant that CC
started with a slightly weaker team. One plus point was the return of
the flamboyant opener Shahid. CC batted first and for once had a decent
start of 39. Mudassar and Javed continued with their good form making 40
and 35 respectively. But once they went, things went a bit haywire. The
lower order got out in a procession and we lost our last 6 wickets for
next to nothing. In the end we managed a meagre 151 all out
off 32 overs.
Traditional had a decent start but
lost their way in the middle. Some good bowling by Salim brought him
four wickets. Traditional were 100 for 7 at this stage. CC had a
spell of bad luck as crucial catches were dropped and close LBW
appeals were turned down. CC managed to take one more wicket and the
required runs were scored in the penultimate over. For Traditional
it was their first win of the season. As for us, it was our first
defeat.
