After lengthy research I have found a letter sent to Peter Vardy (2002) from the cheif inspector David Bell. I am not sure if this issue has came to light previously, but in the letter the cheif inspector states:
"In response to your query about the inspection of science in schools that are obliged to follow the National Curriculum programmes of study, much depends on which aspects of science are being taught at the time inspectors visit the school."
Come again? So basicaly, all Vardy has to do is pretend not to teach creationism in science lessons and everything will be fine with the inspectors. He then goes on to comment on the "trouble" Vardy has taken in explaining the "philosophy and policies of the college as they apply to controversial issues and freedom of debate. I do not feel that I need to pursue this matter further with the college" for the full letter click here
The system is not only a shambles but a damn shame. Firstly, our tax money pays for these un-democratic schools. THEN, more tax money goes into employing these "inspectors" who, according to their chief, will merely turn a blind eye. Are ofsted really an semi-independant quango? Whose really pulling the strings? Yet, at the heart of all this corruption, there are kids in education. Political and religious agenda's seem to matter more than that however.
