          INTRODUCTION

My name is Cindy Van Winkle. I have been blind all my life, but learned early on that it is much better to see with your heart than with your eyes, although the latter may be a bit more convenient. While growing up, I was very fortunate to have parents, friends and educators who believed in me and instilled in me a strong belief in myself. I am a wife, mother, friend, educator, mentor, and advocate. However, the most important thing that you should know about me is that I know I am here for a reason. God has never taken me to a place of no purpose. There may be times I'm not sure of where I am going or why, but trusting in Him to see me through, using His vision not mine, is what gives me sincere joy and love for life.

          FAMILY

I am the proud Mom of 2 beautiful daughters, Amelia and Amanda and am married to a very special man, Tim Van Winkle. I am a guide dog handler; my four-legged partner is Geneva, a sweet, female German Shepherd. I received her from
Guide Dogs for the Blind,. As a family, we attend Crossroads Neighborhood Church
We spend a lot of time involved with
Rainbow Girl and ACB related functions, and just love being together. Learn more about my family and our activities and special interests, by checking out my FAMILY page.

I have a personal email list which I have used to journal my experiences in guide dog training, and will continue to use to share my life with others, although not daily. smile
