This year Carrie Underwood - the "American Idol" star who is suddenly everywhere - will sing George Michael's "Last Christmas." Rascal Flatts, her favorite country band, will do a medley. Ciara will sing the Jackson 5 song "Give Love on Christmas"; Click Five will do "Run Rudolph, Run." Jane Monheit, who has a new Christmas album, sings "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"; gospel great CeCe Winans sings "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Phil McGraw, of "Dr. Phil" fame, hosts with his wife, Robin.

No, it wasn't the four Grammy nominations last week, including the coveted best new artist nod, that shocked her. The poised 20-year-old has been working for this kind of success her whole life. It was her reaction that surprised her most. "I was speechless," said Ciara, calling from a tour stop in Washington, D.C., where she had just performed for the president and first lady at a benefit for the National Children's Hospital. "A lot of great things have happened for me this year, but this was the first time I just couldn't think of anything to say. It's still catching up with me." "The First Lady of Crunk & B," whose hits "Goodies" and "1, 2 Step" (a nominee for best rap/sung collaboration) have been radio and club staples, won't be slowing down any time soon to reflect, though. "I have always been trying to be successful as fast as possible," Ciara said. "I've sacrificed so many things to get here, and it's starting to pay off. I've always believed in myself, and it's just been about making others believe in me."

Ciara to perform at VIBE Awards                                   Posted on Friday, Oct 28, 2005 @ 12:00 PM Mary J. Blige is slated to receive a Legend Award for lifetime achievement at the upcoming Vibe Awards. Performing on the two-hour show will be Ciara, Ludacris, Pharrell, Young Jeezy, Keyshia Cole, David Banner, Paul Wall and Lil Wayne, the latter three for a special Hurricane Katrina tribute. The Vibe Awards will be taped November 12 at Sony Studios in Culver City, California, and broadcast November 15 at 8 p.m. on UPN. - MTV.com

The first release under the MTV brand will be "Rumble," a smart and edgy sports comedy starring Faizon Love ("Animal") and multi-platinum selling star Ciara. Layered with a hot Latin and Hip Hop influenced soundtrack featuring popular music from Marques Houston, Frankie J, Lil Rob and Play N Skillz, the movie follows two former rival high school volleyball squads who are forced to battle it out both on and off the court, across racial, socio-economic and romantic lines to truly become one team and reclaim a championship trophy. Cast includes Adrienne Bailon ("Coach Carter"), Sarah Mason ("Quintuplets"), Doug Savant ("Desperate Housewives") and Efren Ramirez ("Napoleon Dynamite"). Ciara Stops Traffic   Posted on Saturday October 15, 2005 The folks at Marriott were sick of that other hotel chain stealing all the press, with their famous engaging, splitting-up, marrying, divorcing, partying, fashionista/heiress daughters. So to tell the world about their newly revamped hotel rooms, they decided to put on a show on the country's biggest stage, Times Square, with the country's hottest R&B singer Ciara. And you-know-who just had to be there -- camera's rolling -- so we could bring you the whole thing. We climbed on top of a double-decker bus to get a view of the stage, which was hoisted above a glassed -in model hotel room, where tourists could take a peak before checking in. While most pop and R & B girls barely get by with one hot single, Ciara's debut Goodies has topped the charts three times. And she's just released a forth, a slowjam called "And I." That's not even counting her roles on Missy Elliott's "Lose Control" (currently in Billboard's top 20 after 22 weeks) and on "Like You," her boyfriend Bow Wow's current hit (now on Billboard's top 5 after 11 weeks). Ciara Leads Vibe Awards Nominations Posted on Monday, Oct 10, 2005 @ 10:24 AM  Ciara will have a fightin' chance to bring home the most Vibe Awards at this year's hip-hop and R&B awards show. She leads the field with five nominations, including artist of the year. The magazine hopes to avoid last year's onstage scuffle in which Jimmy James Johnson emerged from the audience and punched Dr. Dre, setting off a chair-throwing brawl. Johnson was then allegedly stabbed by rapper Young Buck. Johnson was sentenced in September to a year in jail after he pleaded guilty to punching the rap mogul. Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, has pleaded not guilty and is free on bail awaiting trial. This year's ceremony will be taped Nov. 12 in Los Angeles, with the show to air Nov. 15 (8 p.m. EST) on UPN. Vibe announced the nominations Monday. More...

The 33rd annual American Music Awards, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, will be presented Nov. 22 at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium during a three-hour ABC-TV special.

Ciara to perform on Jackson single Posted on Saturday September 17, 2005 LOS ANGELES - Michael Jackson’s publicist says eight performers so far have agreed to join a song to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims. Raymone K. Bain said artists who will appear on Jackson’s song, tentatively titled “From the Bottom of My Heart,” include James Brown, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliott, Lenny Kravitz, R. Kelly, Snoop Dogg and Ciara. But representatives for some of the artists said it was premature to say their clients were committed to the charity single, which hopes to duplicate the 1984 worldwide hit “We Are the World,” which Jackson co-wrote to benefit African starvation victims.
