Churches Together In Penzance (CTIP)

Welcome to our CTIP website with 2009 Events

Welcome to Churches Together  in Penzance Area

Representatives from Christian Churches and Associations come together and plan services of unity, events and activities which aim to benefit all members of the communities they serve!

CTIP is a means of sharing each others Christian faith through services, events and social activities.

An example of effective christian outreach would be the Newlyn and Penzance Breakfast Project which is now in its ninth year of operation, having served breakfast every single day over those nine years to those most in need - completely organised and delivered by volunteers.   Together, members of the CTIP discuss, debate and act on the needs of various community groups within Penzance area - most recently discussed subjects have been: -

  • offering support and guidance to migrant workers and their families
  • considering how to develop chaplaincy work in schools
  • bringing to life the subject of trafficking
  • the slave trade
  • care for both the young and the older members of our communities

SUBJECT - CULTURE, IDENTITY AND THE PUBLIC SQUARE

In a society of many different cultures and identities, this is a new space from Churches Together in Britain and Ireland to reflect upon themes such as:

Who am I? Who are we? Where do I belong?                                                                      These questions are at the essence of our identity.Old identities - New identities - Loss of identity - Searching for identity.   From the footballer supporters' club to the political pressure group, the need to ‘belong' and to find an ‘identity' is a strong human impulse.   Religion in the public square - a force for good or a focus of suspicion?   With the challenges of living in a changing society, where does the church fit in and where do we as Christians fit in?

Do come and join us
