History

Chrysalis Youth & Community Project Ltd was established in 1992 on the Airedale Estate in Castleford, West Yorkshire and was initiated by the local Methodist Church.

The estate consists of aprox 6,000 houses and 20,000 people, and was formerly a mining community, served by four local collieries before the closures in the late 1980s.

The Project initially started to work with young people on the estate to provide information, advice, advocacy and support, including a wide range of activities to provide them with self-confidence, self esteem, basic and social skills to be able to seek work, training or further education -more



Alternative Education Programme

   

Chrysalis Youth & Community Project offer an exciting and innovative Alternative Education Programme to young people excluded or near exclusion from mainstream education. The Programme targeted at Year 10 and Year 11 pupils is available to local Schools, Authorities, Social Services, Pupil Referral Centres and most organisations that work with young people -more



Enterprise, Regeneration and Training

   

Chrysalis Youth and Community Project operate 3 Social Enterprises, Airedale Computers, Airedale Car Clinic and Airedale Applinaces, of which 2 Airedale Computers and Airedale Car Clinic are run under its trading company Airedale Community Trading (ACT) LTD. These companies not only provided Chrysalis with a much needed income but also provide Regeneration and much needed Training to a disadvantaged area
