Chronicle the special moments in your life with cake.

Welcome!

Cake has always been an integral part of my life.  My mother made each and every birthday special for her children by crafting a cake designed especially for that individual.  When we were young, it was something incredible like a carousel of circus animals, a train laden with candy, or a Hansel and Gretel style house.   All these cakes were long before the days of what we know as the "designer" cakes of today.  My dad was her faithful assistant --working out the semantics and helping to execute the designs. As we grew older it was our "favorite" cake... German Chocolate, Rum, or whatever we chose from Mom's vast cookbook collection.  To this day, she makes my favorite each year on my birthday.  Mom instilled a love of cake in me and a desire to make it beautiful and unique to the individual... an ideal worthy of passing on to my children.

... Feel free to explore my site by clicking on the various headings above the introduction. Check out my cakes in the photo gallery or on the "Featured Cake" album (both always a work in progress,)  I love caking as a hobby!  I have many others as well, but cakes (and gardening --I have an album for that, too!) provide me the opportunity to create  art in a medium that is not always forgiving so the challenge of a new project is always simmering at the back of my mind.   I am currently intrigued with sugar flowers as evidenced in the basket featured below.  I think this is because I love to garden as well and these two loves have finally been combined.

What's behind the name?

They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the flour for the grain offering, the unleavened wafers, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size.  1Chronicles 23:29
