Here is some Christmas Poems that captivate some of the true meaning of Christmas in poetry.

A Catch by the Hearth

Sing we all merrily
Christmas is here,
The day that we love best
Of the days in the year.
Bring forth the holly,
The box, and the bay,
Deck out our cottage
For glad Christmas day.
Sing we all merrily
Draw around the fire
Sister, Brother
Grandsire, and Sire.

Traditional from England

A Visit From St Nicholas

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government
will be upon his shoulder,
and his name will be called
"Wonderful Counseler, Might God.
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace"

Isaiah 9:6

Beggar's Rhyme

Christmas is coming,
the geese are getting fat,
Please to put a penny in the old man's hat;
If you haven't got a penny,
a ha'penny will do,
If you haven't got a ha'penny,
God bless you.

Traditional

Bethlehem of Judea

A little child,
A shining star.
A stable rude,
The door ajar.

Yet in that place,
So crude, forlorn,
The Hope of all
The world was born.

Christmas Angels

Love came down at Christmas.
Love was all lovely, Love devine.
Love was born at Christmas.
Star and angels gave the sign.

Christiana Rossetti (1830-1894)

Christmas Greeting

Sing hey! Sing hey!
For Christmas Day;
Twine mistletoe and holly,
For friendship glows
In winter snows,
And so let's all be jolly.

Traditional

Christmas Moods

Christmas is so many moods and memories...
Christmas is the glitter of trees
hung with shining ornaments...
Christmas is the glow in the eyes of a believing child.

Llewellyn Miller

Christmas

Every time a hand reaches out
To help another... that is Christmas.
Every time someone puts anger aside
And strives for understanding
That is Christmas.
Every time people forget their differences
And realize their love for each other
That is Christmas.
May this Christmas bring us
Closer to the spirit of human understanding
Closer to the blessing of peace!

Christmas Shopping

Clouds are racing in the pale blue sky
How pale the sun is up so high
Ringing bells fill the air
Icicles are hanging everywhere
Slipping and sliding the cars are skidding
Toy stores are with people overflowing
Merry Santa's bells are jingling
A lot of children in school choirs are singing
Sisters and brothers have stopped squabbling
Santa will soon be down the chimney appearing
Holiday parties are in full swing
OH the cash registers go ping ping
People's hearts with love are filling
Presents their wallets are emptying
In-laws will soon be visiting
Nostalgia the air is filling
Garlands of lights the trees are circling
Have you done your Christmas Shopping?
In the stores every thing looks inviting
What should Aunt Matilda be getting?
In all this holiday hustle and bustle
We all seem to be forgetful
The true meaning of the first Christmas
Seems to have lost its meaning now days
Christmas is not about for presents shopping
But rather of friends and family gathering
It is a Special birthday we are celebrating
A day of blessings and rejoicing

Christmas Time

Christmas time is here again,
Children's laughter and
Christmas carol's floating through the air
I close my eyes and try to remember
My very first Christmas.

Presents and toys all around the tree
We all know tonight Santa's
Coming down the chimney,
But what does Christmas really mean?
Christmas is more than toys or trees
It's about being with families
And sharing memories.

It is at this time of the year
We are reminded of
the true meaning of Christmas
That is the birth of Christ
And on this very special day
I'd like to wish everyone
A very Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.

God Bless the Master

God bless the master of this house,
The mistress also,
And all the little children,
That round the table go,
And all your kin and kinsmen
Than dwell both far and near;
I wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.

Traditional from England

It Came Upon A Midnight Clear

It came upon a midnight clear,
That glorious song of old,
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold:
"Peace on the earth, good will to men,
from heav'ns all-gracious King."
The world in solemn stillness Lay
To hear the angels sing.

Words By Edmund Sears (1810-1876)
Music by Richard S. Willis (1819-1900)

It Is Christmas

It is Christmas in the mansion,
Yule-log fires and silkin frocks.
It is Christmas in the cottage,
Mother filling little socks.
It is Christmas in the highway,
In the thronging, busy mart.
But the dearest, truest Christmas
Is the Christmas in the heart.

Keep The Christmas Spirit

So remember while December,
Brings the only Christmas Day.
In the year let there be Christmas
In the things you do and say.
Wouldn't life be worth living
Wouldn't dreams be coming true.
If we kept the Christmas spirit
All the whole year through.

Long, Long Ago

Winds thro' the olive trees
Softly did blow,
Round little Bethlehem
Long, long ago.

Sheep on the hillside lay
Whiter than snow;
Shepherds were watching them,
Long, long ago.

Then from the happy sky,
Angels bent low,
Singin their songs of joy,
Long, long ago.

For in a manger bed,
Cradled we know,
Christ came to Bethlehem,
Long, long ago.

Love Came Down at Christmas

Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love Divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead,
Love Incarnate, Love Divine;
Worship we our Jesus,
But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign

Christina Rossetti

Merry Christmas Mother

At Christmas and always, Mother,
I love you for being,
not only a gentle mother,
but also a friend I can share with,
and talk to and trust.
I love you,
for just being yourself with me,
and letting me know you,
the way you are.
At Christmas and always, Mother,
I love you for standing up to me,
when I needed it,
and for standing by me - always,
and for having so much courage,
and so much patience,
and so much love.

Have a wonderful Christmas Mother!

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas to friends!
Merry Christmas to foes!
The world's bright with joy, so
Forget all your woes.
The earth's full of beauty, of
Love and good cheer.
Merry Christmas to all and a
Happy New Year!

Christmas Prayer

Oh, God...
help us rightly to remember
the birth of Jesus, that
we may share in the songs
of the angels, the gladness
of the shepherds, and the
worship of the wise men.

May the Christmas morning
make us happy
to be your children.

Robert Louis Stevenson

One is for the Manger

One is for the manger
where Baby Jesus lay.
Two is for Mary and Joseph
on that Christmas Day.
Three is for the wise men
who brought three gifts of love.
Four is for the shepherds
and angel songs above.
Five is for the animals
who stood guard in the shed
Over Baby Jesus
in His manger bed.

Rejoice

The holly's up, the house is all bright.
The tree is ready, The candles alight.
Rejoice and be glad, all children tonight!

Carl August Peter Cornelius

Snow Flakes

Each droplet of water
formed into a lacy flake
Falling from heaven above.
Created by God

Everyone different
some big and some small
glistening as they fall
in silence known by all

Watching one melt
upon your brow.
My finger catching the drops
caressing the side of your face

And you kiss my nose
catching a snowflake as it melts
into a droplet of love
created by God

Spirit of Christmas

There's more, much more to Christmas
Than candlelight and cheer
It's the spirit of sweet friendship
That brightens all the year.
It's thoughtfulness and kindness,
It's hope reborn again.
For peace, for understanding
And for goodwill to men!

The Joy Of Giving

Somehow not only for Christmas.
But all the long year through.
The joy that you give to others,
Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing
the poor, and lonely and sad.
The more of your heart is possessing,
Returns to make you glad.

John Greenlef Whittier

The Magic Of The Season

He Sprang in his Sleigh,
To his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew
like the down of a thistle;
But I heard him exclaim,
ere he drove out of sight
"Happy Christmas!"
to all, and to all a
"Good-Night!"

Clement C. Moore
(1779 - 1863)

The Wisemen

When the wise men saw
that the star had stopped,
they were overwhelmed with joy.
On entering the house
they saw a child with Mary his mother,
and they knelt down
and paid his homage.

Mathew 2:10-11

What Can I Give Him ?

What can I give Him?
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd,
I would bring a lamb.
If I were a Wise Man,
I would do my part.
Yet what can I give Him,
Give Him my heart.

Christina Rossetti

When Santa Claus Comes

A good time is coming,
I wish it were here,
The very best time
in the whole of the year;
I'm counting each day
on my fingers and thumbs
the weeks that must pass
before Santa Claus comes.

Then when the first snowflakes
begin to come down,
And the wind whistles sharp
and the branches are brown,
I'll not mind the cold,
though my fingers it numbs,
For it brings the time nearer
when Santa Claus comes.

Would You Follow ?

How many would follow the star tonight
If it shone past the Milky Way,
Leave comfortable homes and follow it still,
Over the hills and away.

How many would open their doors tonight
For a weary and shabby pair?
Make room at hearths for a Stranger-Child,
Though the Infant be wondrous fair?

How many would give of their goods tonight,
The best they possess and more,
For their faith in a star and an angel choir
And a King forevermore?

We censure the folk of a bygone time
For indifference to Mary's plight.
How many would do any better now?
Would you follow the star tonight?

Yule Log Prayer

May the fire of this log warm the cold.
May the hungry be fed.
May the weary find rest.
and may all enjoy Heaven's peace.
