Chris Huntley is a graduate of Trinity College of
Music, Greenwich, under concert pianists Mikhail Kazekevich and the late John
Bingham.
Chris received critical acclaim for his performances
of Sergei Prokofiev’s 2nd piano concerto, which he last performed in a joint
concert with concert pianist Karl Lutchmayer at The Warehouse, Waterloo, in
October 2006 as part of the ‘Conversational Concerts’ series.
Recent professional engagements include Musical
Director for ‘The Dummy Tree’ for Youth Music Theatre UK, Musical Director for
La Boheme East Asian Tour with The European Chamber Opera 2008, and ‘copyist’
to Mr Maritn Lowe (Mamma Mia) on Loserville the musical written by James Bourne
and Elliot Davis. He has also
worked for P&O Cruises, backing acts such as Mark Rattray, Greg Scott and
Francisco Yglesia, as well as directing the P&O Passenger Choir.
Chris has played/MD'd on many productions including
‘Little Shop Of Horrors’, ‘West Side Story’, 'Kiss Me Kate', ‘The King And I’
and ‘The Saint Of Bleecker Street’ amongst others. In September 2004 Chris
played for former Prime Minister Tony Blair at the TUC Conference in Brighton
as an Assistant Musical Director for the National Youth Music Theatre. He then
went on to become Musical Director for the musical ‘Born of Glass’ at the
Albany Theatre for the Y-Touring Company in 2004, and was Musical Director for
Howard Goodall’s musical ‘The Dreaming’ for the Hazlitt Youth Theatre in
October 2005. In August 2006 Chris worked on Broadway on Grant Olding’s ‘Three
Sides’ (New York Musical Theatre Festival) as Associate Musical Director and in
October 2006 Chris was Assistant Musical Director for the English Theatre’s
production of ‘City Of Angels’ (directed by Nikolai Foster) and Musical
Director for ‘Bat Boy’ at the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone, Kent.
Chris orchestrated and directed the first cast recording
of the acclaimed 'Yeti: An Abominamusical', first seen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
in 2006.
