Table Tennis Club sweeps Sports Festival

    Chokai J.H.S. had tremendous success at the Honjo-Yuri Sports Festival.  In addition to a tournament championship by the girls' volleyball team, both the girls' and boys' table tennis teams won first place at the competition.  Both teams will advance to the Akita-ken Prefectural Tournament in Akita City on November 3-4.  

    The boys' team, led by Coach Oba and Coach Masami Takahashi, put forth a tremendous team effort to win the competition.  Chokai team members S.S. and S.K. finished in 8th place while C.H. and H.O. came in 12th overall.  S.K. is also the team captain and leads through his strong individual performance.  According the Coach Oba, "All the teams are very talented, but this team succeeds because they perform well under pressure in the competitions."  This team also has a very bright future as both S.S. and H.O. are ichi-nensei (1st graders).  As they continue to improve and mature, they will form a strong nucleus for this team next year as well.  We wish the team good luck as they approach the prefectural tournament.  There is no doubt they will make this school proud.  

    The girls' team is also quite impressive.
