First tournament for ni-nensei

The Chokai J.H.S. ni-nensei baseball team had its first tournament at the Honjo-Yuri Sports Festival.  Despite a fantastic effort by star pitcher T.S., the team lost to a tough Yashima J.H.S. team.  T.S. pitched a complete game no-hitter, but Yashima was able to pull out a 2-0 victory over Chokai by scoring two unearned runs.  In spite of the loss, Coach Takashi Sato is very optimistic about the team's future.  He is confident the "defense will improve and be better for the next tournament."

In addition to being the team's star pitcher, T.S. is also the team's leadoff batter.  This rare combination makes him a valuable asset to the team.  But this talented ni-nensei team has many other solid players to help carry the load.  Center fielder K.T. is the team's captain and bats third in the lineup.  Left fielder T.S. bats cleanup and gives the team some run scoring potential.  The future looks bright for this team and with time to solidify the defense this team will be very tough come springtime.

Coach Sato is also excited about the talented group of ichi-nensei players that will grow and mature over the next year.  Under the guidance of Coach Sato and Coach Nita, Chokai's baseball team should be exciting to watch.
