When you're nineteen years old, five years is a lifetime. Chloe has been a central part of Celtic Woman since she was just fourteen, so she really has grown up with the show. As Chloe puts it: 'When you're on the road you miss your family at home, but when you're at home you miss your family on the road'.
Both of her parents are successful entertainers in their own rights. Her mother, the singer and stage actress Adele "Twink" King, is a household name in Ireland and her father, David Agnew, is a professional Oboist. Though she's keen to point out that everything she has achieved has been done off her own bat, she admits that she has been very lucky 'in that if I've ever been on the road and had a question, I've only had to pick up the phone to find out the answer'.
There was certainly nothing sudden about Chloe's entrance into the splotlight; it was very much a slow and gradual process, albeit one which started early. She made her stage debut at four years old and sang on her mother's television show at age six. In 1998, at age nine, she was awarded the Grand Prix at the First International Children's Song Competition in Cairo, representing Ireland with a song called 'The Friendship Tree'. Her big break came at the age of eleven, when she approached musical director David Downes with the idea of recording a single for charity. Downes was keen to work with Chloe, and the recorded the single, 'Holy Christmas Night' for Celtic Collections, which went on to raise over $40,000 for charity.
Chloe very quickly went on to record her debut solo album aged twelve. Her second album followed two years later when she had just turned fourteen. It was then that she was aksed to become part of the very first Celtic Woman show -- an opportunity which she understandably jumped at. It's been once success after the other since then, to the point where Chloe admits she regularly has to pinch herself to remind herself this is all actually happening. The most special aspect of her involvement in Celtic Woman, Chloe asserts, is the fans themselves. 'It's funny', she says, 'but all of us in the group have a kind of fan base that identifies with something different in each of us. One of the things we've seen with Celtic Woman is that it's very much a family show and that's really wonderful'. She admits that, as the youngest member, she seems to have particularly charmed the younger Celtic Woman fans. It is, she says, truly amazing that, without even knowing, you can have such an effect on people just through doing what you love to do.
And if there's one thing that hasn't changed for Chloe since she started with Celtic Woman, its her love for music, and for the group she performs it with. 'There have been so many friendships formed and memories made in such a short space of time, it really does feel like a lifetime.
