Dylan Richter Commits

Possibly the most sought after Division III prospect in the state of Illinois is now off the board, as Stevenson High School's Dylan Richter has committed to Washington University in St. Louis.

"I had known for a few months that if I got in, I was going there," said Richter, a 6-3 small forward. "I applied early decision a few months ago, and I just had to wait to see if I was going to get in. I found out on Wendsday that they had accepted me and it was a done deal."

Dylan was being recruited by a number of the top DIII schools in the nation, including Augustana, University of Chicago, St. Norberts, and Hamilton (NY), but he knew for a while that Wash U was the place for him.

"For me, it was just about going to the best school possible. I didn't have any DI or DII offers, and Washington was ranked #1 in the pre-season DIII rankings. It is not only a great basketball school, but it is also really good academically and hard to get into," added Richter. "I took a visit there and it went real well." He continued, "I played with the guys on the team and I played pretty well. Wash U is a really nice place."

Dylan holds down the post for a very good Stevenson squad this season. Last year Richter and his running mate Kevin Stineman led the Patriots to a 4th place state finish, and both players are back and better then ever this year. Stineman is a 6-0 PG, and is committed to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. SIUe is just a 15 minute drive from Wash U.

"Kevin was really happy when I told him I was going there," added Richter.

Stevenson, which also features seniors Dan Rebnord and Mike Goldstein, as well as sophomore Jeff Levitt, is off to a 7-2 start and most recently defeated Northwestern commit John Shurna and Glenbard West. They will match up with Mundelien on Friday.
