Kevin Stineman Journal #2

Hey, what’s going on Illinoishsbasketball.com! Kevin Stineman just stopping in to drop a journal. This year at Stevenson we are looking to have a pretty successful year. Last year we finished 27-7 and 4th place in state, we have 2 key returning players in Dylan Richter and me. We try not to look back at last year to much because we know we are a completely different team. This year, we are 3-1 with our only loss coming to Elgin in Overtime. We didn't play up to par vs. Elgin , we are upset about our first defeat coming so soon but I see it as a positive purpose. Makes us not want to lose another game for a long time. At our Thanksgiving tournament, we finished 3-1 along with Elgin and Buffalo Grove, we were all tied for champions but the tie breaker came down to free throw %, we shot 66% and BG shot 75 %. We came away with the 2nd place trophy, but the tourney was more about finding our identity as a team then taking home some hardware. This year, the North Suburban Lake figures to be extremely tough. Some predict that the NSC is the deepest conference in the state. Zion Benton, Warren and Mundelein are going to be very tough games, as will all the others. It’s going to make every game that much more exciting and important. There will be no cake walks this year in the NSC.

As for my future basketball career, I will take my game to the Southern Illinois University @ Edwardsville. I am very excited about becoming a Cougar; I recently signed my national letter of intent at my house last Friday night with my basketball team, friends and family. The excitement at Edwardsville is awesome, the school and community are so pumped for next year and going D1. SIU Edwardsville is going to be a great fit for me due to their style of play; fast, up-tempo and in your face. All in all, Edwardsville was the best fit for me and helped secure my dream of playing basketball at the next level.
