Central Suburban League IMPACT Players

The Central Suburban League is set to have one of it's most exciting and competitive seasons to date, as it is loaded with talent of all classes from top to bottom. I have compiled a list of the top players in the CSL expected to make an impact this season. This is not just a ranking of the most talented, or best players in the league! This ranking is based on three components. 1) Talent level, 2) How good their team is expected to be, and 3) How big of a role they will play on the team.

1)    Peter Boehm- 6-7 senior F New Trier (Harvard Commit)-Pre-season CSL player of the year

The Harvard commit is the Illinoishsbasketball.com pre-season CSL player of the year. Boehm will be the top player on New Trier, one of the top two teams in the league and one of the top 15 teams in the state. Boehm is a hardnosed defender and a hustler on both ends of the floor. He has a nice offensive package, and should be one of the high scorers in the CSL, as well as one of the top rebounders and shot blockers.

2)    Jeremy Richmond- 6-6 sophomore wing Waukegan (Illinois Commit)

This sophomore phenom is set to be the most talented player in the CSL, regardless of class. Though Richmond only has one year of Varsity experience under his belt, he has a very polished game and plays with a swagger and confidence beyond his years. Richmond ranks as the top sophomore in the state of Illinois, and the #4 sophomore in the nation. Richmond’s transfer from North Shore Country Day bumped Waukegan from being one of the worst teams in the CSL to a potential contender for the league title.

3)    Jack Cooley- 6-8 junior PF Glenbrook South

Cooley comes into the season as the top post player in the CSL, and arguably the top junior in the league. The versatile 6-8 power forward will be the anchor for a Glenbrook South team that has high hopes for this season, as they have a very talented, well rounded squad. Cooley is big, strong, and tough on the blocks, and is a superb rebounder and shot blocker. He also has a very nice touch around the hoop. Cooley is being recruited by a host of D1 schools including Southern Illinois, and Northwestern.

4)    Zach Morton- 6-3 senior G Evanston (Northwestern Baseball commit)

Zach will be the leader and best player on an Evanston team that figures to be the top team in the CSL, and a top 10 team in the state. Morton is a smart point guard with a very good feel for the game and great playmaking abilities. Zach also is a very good shooter, and excels on defense.

5)    Chris Wrobelowski- 6-1 senior G Highland Park (Cornell Commit)

Chris will be the star on a senior- led Highland Park team that has a shot at winning the CSL North division. The Cornell commit is a prolific scorer, and has a chance at winning the CSL scoring crown.

6)    Dahni Wilson- 6-3 junior SF Maine East

Wilson has improved more then almost any other player in the state since last season, and is set to lead a Maine East team that could definitely surprise some people this year and win some games. Dahni led Maine East to the final four at the Northwestern team camp this summer, and was the Eastern Conference MVP for the Illinoishsbasketball.com/Full Package fall league. Wilson will surely have some D1 coaches come see him this season.

7)    Tyler Ponticelli- 6-7 junior F Glenbrook North

The versatile forward will be the key to Glenbrook North’s success this season, as they have a very solid core of players and have a shot at having winning the CSL North division. Ponticelli can mix it up outside or bang down low, and does was it takes for his team to win. He has a number of D1 schools tracking his progress.

8)    Nik Garcia- 6-5 junior SG Niles West

The high scoring junior is arguably the top junior in the league, and one of the best scorers in the state, regardless of class. Garcia will be the bright spot on an inexperienced Niles West team that figures to finish in the bottom half of the conference. Garcia is sure to single-handedly win a number of games this season for West.

t9)   Derryan Hunt- 6-5 senior F Evanston

The highly athletic forward will be the wildcard for Evanston this year. If he plays up to his potential, he could be Evanston’s ticket to a run downstate. Hunt could end up at a division one school next year if he has a big season.

t9)   Travis Clark- 6-5 senior PF Evanston

This productive post presence has been Mr. consistent for Evanston throughout the end of last season and into this summer. Clark is a great rebounder, passer, and scorer, and is a major reason why Evanston is so highly regarded. Clark will be an impact player on the D2/D3 level.

t9)   Steven Rudnicki- 6-3 senior SG Evanston

Rudnicki is going to be looked upon by Evanston coach Bobby Lock to be one of the top scorers for the Senior-led team. Rudnicki is a very good outside shooter, and also will need to run the point a little for the Wildkits. Steven is also a great student, and will most likely end up a D3 star next year.

t9)   Sean Croegart-Key- 6-3 senior SF Evanston

Croegart-Key will be needed to play inside and outside for the wildkits, and contribute in all categories. The versatile forward was a starter all of last season, and could end up as the top scorer on the team. Sean is a top D2/D3 recruit.

t9)    Dan Farr - 6-5 senior C Evanston

Farr is a very big and strong, and will be needed to rebound the ball for the Wildkits. Danny has a very nice set of post moves, and has the potential to be dominant when matched up with smaller oponents. Farr has two division 1 football offers, and could be a D2 basketball player.

13)  Jack Boehm- 6-7 senior SG New Trier (Bucknell Baseball commit)

Peter Boehm’s twin brother is a great scorer and a smart player. Can really light it up from outside.

14)  Naudgee Carpenter- 5-8 senior G Waukegan

Carpenter will be the senior leader for a Waukegan squad that features Jereme Richmond, the top sophomore in the state. Carpenter will need to get Jereme the ball in all the right places, and will need to be a valid outlet when he is double-teamed. The quick scoring guard could be the key to Waukegan’s success or lack-therof. A very good D2/D3 recruit.

15)  Alex Rossi- 6-5 sophomore wing New Trier

The top sophomore in the league will play a starting role for a talented New Trier squad. He is a high major D1 recruit and has Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin, and others recruiting him.16)  Josh Bartlestien- 6-2 senior G Highland Park

Josh is a very smart player, and will run the point most of the time for the Giants. A very good D3 recruit.

17)  Lewis Brown- 6-2 senior SG Glenbrook South

Brown had a break out fall, and could be the leading scorer for a very good GBS team. Brown is a spectacular outside shooter, and will be a very good D3 recruit.

18)  Brian Peel- 6-4 senior F Glenbrook North

Peel is a high scoring forward, and will provide senior leadership for the Spartans. A D3 recruit.

19)  Charles McKinney- 6-3 sophomore G Maine East

Charles will provide a scoring punch for a young Maine East team that could surprise people around the state. McKinney is a division one prospect.

20)  Alex Dragecevich- 6-2 sophomore SG Glenbrook North

The sharp-shooting sophomore will provide a spark for a good Glenbrook North team. A division one prospect.
