Last saturday, October 14th, the gym at Triton college was loaded with potential prospects waiting for their chance to show the fans and coaches in attendance, Coach Terry Head and Coach Troy Johnson, and the Illinois HS Basketball staff that they have what it takes to be considered an elite player throughout the midwest. Many of the top players from the Chicago-land area, southern Illinois, and Indiana packed the gym to try and showcase their game and some players really showed that they could play. Heres a look at the top freshman in attendance
1. Mike McCall 6-0 Foreman He can flat out play. He is a nice scorer and is consistent with his mid-range jump shot. He needs to improve on his defense.
2. Kenny Stevenson 5-11 Seton Can shoot with the best shooters in the state. Plays for his Dad and will help his High School win a lot of ball games.
3. Eddie Denard 6-4 Foreman A nice big man who is unselfish, needs to look to score more as well as be more aggressive around the basket.
4. Ronald Anthony 5-11 East St. Louis A nice guard who can play. Illinois is looking good from North to South.
5. Sam Savagio 5-9 Temper H.S. A good spot up shooter; needs to be more aggressive with the basketball.
6. Jay Green 5-9 St. Joe’s He was the surprise player of the showcase. I did not know this kid could play so well. He is quick and can handle the basketball. I also liked his ability to get to the basket.
7. Drew Herchenbach 6-0 Mundeline A solid player with good fundamentals.
8. Jermall Parker 6-0 Milwaukee Hamilton A really nice player who can flat out play. A nice heady player who can get his own basket when he wants.
9. DeMarcus Archie 6-0 Foreman Need to lean one position; played hard and was very physical during the showcase.
10. Terrance Davis 6-2 Orr Campus H.S. He has long arms; a hard nose defensive player who tries to lock shots and is a heady worker around the basket
