Below is a ranking of the 40 players that are expected to make the biggest impact in the Chicago Catholic League this year. This is not a ranking of the best players in the CCL. These players “ranking” in their respective class only accounts for part of their standing in this ranking. The other major factors are; how good their team will be, and how much they will contribute to their team. Some of the more talented players may be farther down because their team will not be good, or because they will have to backup more experienced players.
1. Matt Humphrey- 6'5 Shooting Guard Chicago Hales Franciscan- Matt ranks as one of the best players in the state of
2. Josh Crittle- 6'8 Power Forward Chicago Hales Franciscan- Josh is one of the premier big men in the state. With his big body he can post up down low but is not afraid to step out a little bit and knock down a jump-shot. Josh is very strong and not afraid to get physical with players.
3. Rob Belcore- 6'5 Shooting Guard Loyola Academy- Along with Humphrey, Rob ranks as a top shooter in the state. Rob can score at all different places on the floor. As a big shooter it is hard to lock down Belcore. He is also a very strong on ball defender and is good in the passing lanes.
4. Derick Tartt 6'5 Small Forward Fenwick- Tartt is extremely long and athletic and knows how to use this to his advantage. He is a great defender and a great scorer. He knows how to lock down on defense and convert it to points on the other side.
5. Xavier Humphrey- 6'4 Shooting Guard Fenwick- Xavier is ready to step up and fill the shoes at Fenwick. "X" is a great scoring guard and a very unselfish player. Humphrey can flat out get it done on the floor. He always makes his team better when he’s on the floor.
6. DJ Cooper- 5'9 Point Guard Chicago Hales Franciscan- At just 5'9 this kid is something special. He is very underrated. DJ can get to the hole and knows how to finish. He is also a very good shooter from beyond the arc and a great passer.
7. Steve Filer- 6'4 Power Forward Chicago Mount Carmel- Football All American, Filer knows to use his body. One of the best rebounders in the state. He is also a great defender and can score.
8. Jordan Walker- 6'6 Forward Chicago Hales Franciscan- This transfer is looking to make a big name for himself as he moves back into
9. Elliot Brown- 6'0 Shooting Guard Chicago De La Salle- Elliot is a very underrated guard. He is very strong and powerful. Not only can he get to the hole but he also has a pretty good shot. Elliot is one of the better defenders in
10. James Pointer- 5'11 Point Guard Chicago Leo- Pointer returns to a Leo team that is not as strong as usual. Pointer is a very strong guard. He is not afraid of anyone and will not back down. He is lock down on defense and a very stronger scorer.
