The class of 2010 is shaping up to be a spectacular class, with dozens of guards that are already showing that they are sure-fire future D1 ballers. Alex Dragicevich is not usually mentioned with the “elite” guards in the class, but not for long, as the 6-4 shooting guard has been playing spectacular basketball for Glenbrook North of late.
GBN started off the season in a big way; going 3-0 and winning the Niles West thanksgiving tournament, defeating Corliss, Palatine, and
“Winning the thanksgiving tournament was a really good way to start the season,” said the sharp-shooting sophomore, “Personally, I think I did pretty well,” he continued. “I’m pretty happy with the way I started out, but I have a lot I can work on. I want to get better every game and keep becoming a better player as the season goes on.”
Alex is not the only good player wearing a Spartan jersey however, as Glenbrook North also features a number of other talented prospects including 6-7 junior forward Tyler Ponticelli.
“I like playing with my teammates a lot,” he stated. “It’s really a great group of guys. A couple of the starters are football players and they all work very hard. First thing on our mind is always winning, and my teammates are really supportive of each other.”
Dragicevich played this past spring and summer with the Illinois Wolves 15u, and had very good showings in tournaments across the nation. Joining Alex on the Wolves was St. Joseph star point guard Deandre McCamey, who played with the team early in the season before he got moved up to the 16u squad, as well as Rahjaun Muhammad, Derek Baab, Joe McNicholas, Wayne Simon, Winston Williams, Mike Dixon, Mantas Dubauskas, Ricky Clopton, and freshmen Devon Hodges and Ryan Jackson.

Though he is only a sophomore, Alex is already receiving serious recruiting attention from a number of division one schools. Stanford, Northwestern, Northern Iowa, and
Dragicevich will be playing tomorrow, November 30th, in an away game against conference foe New Trier. New
“First off, New Trier is a great team and will be tough to beat. We will have to battle on all the little things like loose balls, diving on the floor, and getting rebounds. I feel if we do all of these things we can definitely win.”
