HAERE MAI

Haere Mai is Maori for Welcome. Welcome to Childcorner. This webpage is all about children. Children play a central part in my life. First of all my own children. I have a 14 year old daughter and a 13 year old son. From all the things I did, parenting was the most difficult but also the most rewarding task in my life. Because my family is affected by learning disabilities I had to work a little harder than the average mum to care for my children. Without the help from professionals, the Dyspraxia Support Group of NZ and other mums I couldn't have done it. I learned so much that I can call myself a professional parent.

Except from learning from others along the way I also gained the Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychology and did several other courses. During my time as a committee member at the Dyspraxia Support Group I had the oppertunity to attend several conferences about learning disabilities were I learned valuable information.

I choose to work part time and will continue to do that to assist my children whenever it is needed. I feel that they are becoming more and more independent so I fill up my time with blogging and volunteer work. I work Part time at a Children's Home which I enjoy very much and I work half a day at a computer centre. This is connected to children as well because I supervise students who haven't a computer at home and can freely access the computers at the centre after school.

Writing is one of my other passions so at this website I share with you my knowledge. I wrote several articles about children and I would like to invite you to read them and hope you will enjoy it.
