My Take on Cup guys in the Nationwide Series
Your job as a racecar driver is to devote yourself to your sport, climbing though the ranks to hopefully end up in the top division. If and when you make it there, you strive to be competitive and win races, right? Well, in some driver's cases, it is not so.
The situation is this. Top Cup drivers, who are competitive, and are having a seccesful career, are riding the races of the "little league" series. Is this right? Well, let's explore this issue.
I'll explian this from both points of veiw.
If you decide to set up a Nationwide deal and everything is fine and dandy, then why not go out there and run the series? You get extra money if you win a race to add on top of your Cup earnings, you get more seat time, more track time, and more TV time. So why would you not consider this oppertunity if offered to you, a succsesful Cup driver?
Well, first of all, who was the Nationwide series actually for? Was it made so that big hotshots could climb into there big-team cars and dominate the rookies? Or was it created for up-and-coming drivers that are trying to impress sponsers and car owners so they could get a big break? If you want to run in the little leagues, fine. But NASCAR must fix this issue, because it is taking away from all the "little" drivers that need to make a name for themselves. Now, some might argue, " Well, it's better to compete with people better than you so that you can learn things." If that's the case, then let the Cup guys race in the sereis, on a LIMITED schedule! That would solve all the problems! Have a limit to the number of races a Cup guy can run in the Nationwide sereis, and for goodness sakes, don't let them be eligable to win the Nationwide CHAMPIONSHIP! That is for Nationwide-only drivers who work their butts off to finish well every week.
Well, that's my take! Tell me what you think in my guestbook!
