In Loving Memory of Tiny Tim

I wanted to create this site in rememberance of the late, great Herbert Khaury, better known as "TINY TIM."  I wanted people who don't really know too much about him to get a better understanding of him.  He was so much more than just a novelty act to me - more than just some "weird" guy with a ukelele and a high falsetto voice and eccentricities.  He was a Christian.  He had morals, but he also had his imperfections, like the rest of us.  He oozed talent.  He had a wonderful voice range from a deep, rich baritone growl to a high-pitched, glass-shattering falsetto!  He was a musical genius - he could tell you anything and everything about music and songs from the late 1800's - 1930's !  He could take songs and make them his own!  He had cool hair!  He had a beautiful smile!  Most importantly, he was a HUMAN BEING with feelings!  It is my MAIN goal to educate people about this talented aritst, and to keep his music alive - not to answer questions about his eccentiricities, and such.  Mr. Ernie Clark captured my goal for this site perfectly in the following quote, when he answered another fan's question:

"Tiny was the kind of performer who could win anyone over if they would just be open minded enough to realize what a great entertainer he was. He once played for a bar full of tough Texans who showed up just to heckle him. Tiny began his show to the sound of laughter and insults. by the time he got to his third song the heckling had stopped and the patrons were cheering hom and yelling "We love you Tiny"! After the show they all stayed to meet with him and get his autograph as well as photos of themselves with him. Tiny was a very nice down to earth person who had many many fans all over the world. he is missed very much and we will never see another entertainer like him again. When all else fails I think of this quote by Jonathan Swift; "When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in confederacy against him". Thank you for your question and I hope my answer will make people who don't understand Tiny take the time to learn more about him and enjoy his amazing music."  -Ernie Clark, tinytim.org

MY TINY TIM STORY (THE SHORT VERSION):

I have always been a music lover.  In fact, I would usually "escape" with music, much like Tiny has been described as doing as a child growing up.  I first came to know about Tiny Tim in 1985.  I got teased a lot in school, to say the least because I wasn't very pretty.  My dad had just been murdered and the kids at school wouldn't let up on the teasing.  They'd actually say things like, "your dad probably deserved it, etc."  Anyway, a couple of days, after my dad's funeral, I was looking for an "escape," and I came across Tiny Tim's first album, "God Bless Tiny Tim," through my mom.  (Something else Tiny and I have in common - we both liked our mom's music).  I remember thinking, "this guy looks strange..." but I gave it a try anyway.  When I put that record on the turntable and put the needle down, it was like my troubles melted away.  For a brief period of time, I could forget the pain I was going through and just enjoy myself... and Tiny's music.  I had heard about how eccentric Tiny Tim was, and how weird everyone though he was, etc.  Long story short, I came to realize that Tiny and I had a lot in common as far as the way we were accepted (or not) by others.  I became a fan instantly.  I even developed a little-girl crush on him!  I remember being 11 years old and telling my mom I was going to marry him one day.  (I know, I know, 'ain't that cute')? lol  But because of Tiny, I became a fan of old songs, and a fan of his style.  I will always have a special place in my heart for Tiny Tim and his music.  Rest in peace, Mr. Khaury.

Tiny LOVED the color white.  This is why there is no elaborate background, and only a subtle hint.  He loved the color white because, to him, it symbolised purity.  Tiny was also a patriot!  He loved America, and even sang patriotic songs from those days.  He was all about keeping the music alive.  That's what I want to do with this site - keep the music of this talented artist alive.  It's always a TERRIBLE LOSS when someone great leaves this world.  Tiny Tim is no exception.  I feel he is deserving of a tribute that is warm, beautiful, sincere and (as other people have described it) touching.  For my first tribute video, I chose the song "Homesick" by Mercy Me (rather than a Tiny Tim song) because Tiny Tim was a Christian and also because this song really touches the heart, and that's also what Tiny was all about.  Songs that touch your heart.  Anyone can put together a video/photo montage and use the artists' song to go with it - that is a no-brainer.  I wanted to put more effort in it than that.  I also used this song because this song speaks volumes about how one may feel when a loved one (or in this case, a music legend) has passed away: 

One feels peace when they KNOW that the person is in a better place, but yet, at the same time, one also feels sad because they know it's going to be a long time before they get to see the person again.  Then, the question is often asked, "Why?  Why did God have to take this person?  Why do the good ones always have to go?"  Even if we knew why, it would still hurt because, again, we know we have a great while before we'll get to see them again in our true home - heaven.  But you can always close your eyes and see that loved one and just because they aren't there physically, it doesn't mean that they aren't still around.  Especially if they've accepted Jesus as their Lord & Savior like Tiny did.    I share his belief that one day, I will live in heaven with Jesus because I have trusted in Jesus as my Lord & Savior.  I'll also get to see Tiny Tim there.

Thank you to the band, Mercy Me, for writing such a beautiful & touching (and perfect) song for heartfelt dedications such as this.

Last but DEFINITELY not least (I always save the best for last), a big (((((((THANK YOU to Tiny Tim))))))) for entertaining us with his talent and for having such a big heart and being a TRUE CHRISTIAN and fighting the good fight.  Thank you also, Tiny, for introducing us to the music of yesteryear.  Tiny, you took a piece of us with you when Jesus called you home, but in Christ, there are NO "goodbyes," and there is NO "end."  Without further adieu, below is the (first) tribute video for Tiny Tim (For smaller screens: hit the F11 key to see the video and its scenery as it was intended.  Hit F11 to go back to normal view when done).
