Cheryll's Journey

I'm Half The Woman I Used To Be!

How Bad Do You Want This?

Losing weight is a journey – a learning process. Nobody is perfect, nobody! If we have bad days, we learn from that and move on.

Day after day, on different message boards, I hear some really sorry excuses for not losing weight.

And you know what? It all boils down to one simple question: How bad do you want this?

I read that people haven’t journaled for DAYS. I would be lost and floundering if I didn’t journal every bite I put in my mouth. It helps me stay on track, and ultimately on program.

I read about people who pick and choose which of the 8 healthy guidelines they follow. Come on! Lots and lots of research has gone into this program. Don’t you think WW knows what they’re talking about? Yes, there are things that have good/healthy oil in them, but that is NOT a substitute for eating or cooking with that oil directly and giving your body the essential fat that it needs.

It seems like people are always trying to find ways around drinking water. “Do I really have to drink six glasses a day?” No, you really need to drink MORE than that. There are so many benefits to drinking water. Your skin will look better, your plumbing will work better (smile), and you’ll see great weight loss benefits.

How bad do you want this?

The list goes on and on. Sometimes things are out of our control; i.e. health problems or certain medications. There will be ups and downs along the way. That’s normal and natural. At times, this is more of a mental battle than a physical one, and we learn what our triggers are and how to avoid them. We learn what led to our overeating in the first place. But the things that we cannot control aside, ultimately WE are in control of our journey. What are your priorities? What is your commitment level? Are you really dedicated to losing weight?

I've Got The Big Weight Loss Secret Everyone is Looking For

This was posted by BANDYX3 on the "100+ Pounds to Lose" WW Board on 01/17/07, and it really rang true with me.  I think we ALL need to read this.  I am re-posting this with her permission. To view Bandy's awesome weight loss progress, check out her site:  Bandy's Website

I've Got The Big Weight Loss Secret Everyone is Looking For

It is a good one.

Are you ready for it?  Really ready?  Really?

Just work the WW plan the way it was intended.

This is more than counting points, people.

This means drinking water.  It doesn't matter that you don't like it.  Drink it anyway.

This means eating REAL fruits and vegetable.  It doesn't matter that you don't like them.  Figure out ones you do like or ways you can prepare them that you do like.  If all else fails, SUCKITUP and eat them anyway.

Eat all your points.  Yes.  All of them.

Eat your healthy oils.  You DO like your hair and fingernails, right?  Well they like healthy FATS).

Move your body.  Don't like exercise?  TOUGH.  Exercise is key to a healthy lifestyle.  No, you don’t have to log hours at a gym, but you do have to find some way to move your body that is fun.

Really.  You just have to do it.  It amazes me that people join WW and pay for the program and then think of ways that they can work the program "better" to lose "faster" (i.e. not eat all their points).  Do you not think that WW put bazillions of dollars behind their science?  Do you really think that they know less than you about how to lose weight?  Do you really think there is some kind of vast conspiracy that WW is purposefully trying to keep you fat so they developed something that doesn't work?

People come here on the verge of surgery.  They are willing to CUT their bodies and alter their organs, but ask them to drink water and they balk and that boggles my mind.  "But I hate the way water tastes."  SO WHAT.  Do you like not being able to eat more than two teaspoons?  Do you like walking with pain?

You have to change your lifestyle for this to work.

I PROMISE you that the program works if you work it.  IF YOU WORK IT.  And you know what, even if you work it, you are STILL going to see the occasional undeserved gain, the plateau that goes on too long, but that is just life.  And IT MAY TAKE A LONG TIME.  Follow the program and you will lose, you will get healthy.

That is all.
