Chase Family Rabbits

Holland Lops, Mini-Rex and Polish in Northeast Iowa

Welcome to Chase Family Rabbits!

We started out as a 4-H project for our boys and in no time at all, we grew from 2 Polish rabbits, to nearly 100 Polish, Mini Rex and Holland Lops.  We have met alot of helpful people and breeders along the way. Maple Kelly gave us a great start and foundation with our Mini Rex and our Holland lops and John Grimm gave us a strong foundation with our Polish. We were encouraged to show beyond 4-H and have been bitten by the rabbit bug! We all enjoy showing as a family. We have had a bit of success on the show table and have made many new friends in the process. Thanks to everyone who's ever answered a question, sold to us or bought from us. We're located in Farmersburg, Iowa, in the northeast corner of the state.
The Tipton show on 7/12 marked the first year of showing for us!  We've enjoyed a bit of success on the table (check out our show results page) and even more in the new friends we've made.  We're starting our own lines in all of our breeds.  That's very exciting to us but your name can only be as good as the stock you start from.  We've come a long way in the past year (Thanks to All!) and hope in the coming year we continue to have success, on the table and with the people we meet.  If you see us at a show please stop by!
Nick and Zach went to Nationals in Louisville in 2008 as part of a the District 3 and Iowa judging teams!  Since they were going we managed to get 3 rabbits there also.  One of our castor sr. does, Carmen got 23rd place, one of our castor sr. bucks Ace didn't place (he was just coming out a BIG molt) and check out our Mini-Rex doe page to see how our REW sr. doe, Lucy, placed!  We thank our daughter, Jen, for getting us into the REW's. That variety is her passion and has done well with breeding and raising winners!! We are very excited about the boys going on the judging teams and how our rabbits placed!

We are members of the Iowa State Rabbit Breeders Association, National Mini-Rex Club, Midwest Holland Lop Club and the Midwest Mini-Rex Club.  Our rabbitry is registered with the ARBA, number B128.

In our first full year of showing in 2008 we did quite well in the ISRBA yearly points.  In the Polish breed we finished in first place.  Then in the Holland Lop breed we finished in third place. Finally, in the Mini-Rex breed we finished in second place.  In each breed we were very happy with how we finished.  There's always improvements that can be made and we'll be working hard on them for the 2009 season.

When we started we set some goals for ourselves.  We wanted to get Best Of Breed in each of the breeds we have.  We met that one early for our Holland Lops with Chase's Cocoa.  It took awhile longer for our Polish but we've gotten a couple of Best of Breeds with our Chase's Artie.  He got another BOB at Allison this past weekend.  What was even sweeter was in the selection for the Best 4 Class the judge said it came down to 4 animals and Artie was one of the four!  A couple of weeks ago we got the BOB we'd been working on in the Mini-Rex breed with our doe Chase's Izzy.  Each of the breeds are competitive but it seems that the Mini-Rex has been the most competitive.  If you look at our win pages you'll see that Izzy has been on the page consistently and improving with age.  We're hoping for a couple more from her and more from others that have been moving up in the judging!
