Xatsuin's Story

"Wake up sir,"

"Huh?" I woke up, yawning loudly, "Colonel, are we there?", I asked.

"Yes sir, we are in the heart of Argil, we are awaiting your commands."

"Very good Colonel, send General Raiden in."

"Yes sir, right away.", and the Colonel ran off. I sighed; finally, this damned war might be finished.

My planet, Zelex, had been in war for centuries, starting over 800 years ago. The planet was divided into two sides, the light side of the west, named Argil, and the dark side of the east, named Dissenda. The two sides had loathed each other since the planet was born, but it was the torture and then murder of a group of children from Dissenda that had started the war. I was born in the border between the two sides, the Border of Twilight. The border was a safe haven for outcasts, refugees, and down lookers of the war.

My parents had met there, Alfina Zamel of Argil, and Leon Inex of Dissenda. I was trained in the ways of the sword and shield, and taught to protect the innocent. I became a skilled warrior and a natural born leader thinking up elaborate strategies that would leave any foe dead with stealth and speed. It was when my brother, Vexal, who had returned to Argil, had died in the war that I realized the true horrors of war; it was then that I put my leadership skills to work.

I formed an organization made to stop the war that had been going on for centuries at any cost, even if more blood had to be spilled. The XVIII Order was born. Starting out small, we started gaining more members, the residents of the border had wanted the war to end for a long time, having still little numbers compared to the other armies, we were to use stealth in our first attack, about to begin, in the heart of Argil.

General Raiden walked in, looking a little nervous at what they were about to do.
"Sir, are you sure about this plan? I think your plan may fail."

"Why do you doubt me General? We have gone over this time and time again. The Argil Army will have no idea of us coming. You have nothing to fear.", I said with a huge grin on my face, the plan was foolproof.

"We are outnumbered, and even with stealth we will be caught eventually."

"...True, but that's not the real reason you want to back out, even by the time we are caught we will have their king hostage and their troops down, what is real reason you want to back out?" The general was sweating now, knowing that after he told me the reason I would not back out.

"They say that the Argil Army has been summoning strange and deadly beasts, able to do worse than kill a man." He had a look of terror on his face, the idiot believed the rumors.

"You believe those idiotic rumors? Even if they were true they are probably not half as strong as they are supposed to be, I could easily kill those bastards." I looked at him with a "you idiot" look in my eye; he backed off immediately, knowing he had lost.
"We are leaving now. Gather the troops." I walked out, ready to begin; nothing would stand in my way of stopping this war. Little did I know the war would end today, but not in the way I had hoped.

An hour later, we had their king in our custody, but he did not cooperate with us, he just laughed and said things like "you will all pay, for they are coming", all a load of shit, I knew he was lying. "Just surrender to the Dissenda army, and this will be over, you know that they just want the war to stop, they will not take your land or slaughter your people.", I said, starting to get very annoyed, he would not give up.

"Never, for my army is coming soon"

"We have the rest of your guards and troops stationed here imprisoned."

He laughed an evil laugh and said "Not that army."

"I don't know what the hell you are talking about you crazy old man." Just then the door exploded open, and I knew what he was talking about. Strange small black creatures had walked in, it was then I wondered what happened to the guards at the door, had the creatures done this?

"What is this you bastard? What the hell are they?"

"Those without hearts."

"What?", I wanted an explanation, but I realized we didn't have time. I felt an evil aura behind me; I spin around and cut the creature's head off of his neck.

I yelled at the soldiers in the room, which started to fill up with the creatures. "Kill them then get the hell out of here!" We had killed them and ran out of the room, and headed towards the grounds.

There was blood everywhere. The grounds were now a battleground. I saw everyone fighting the creatures, but I saw no bodies, it seemed like they had somehow disappeared. I saw general Raiden on the ground, cover in red blood, I knew he was right now, we shouldn't have came. I ran up to him.

"I'm sorry sir, we couldn't hold them off"

"This is not the time to say sorry damn it! We need to get you out of here." Just then a creature came and struck the General, and he disappeared.

"YOU BASTARD!" I screamed with an anger I had never felt before, killing any of the creatures who got in my way. I saw my soldiers dying one by one, but I could not help them, even as many as I was killing, we were tremendously outnumbered. Knowing we could not retreat, for the exits were blocked, and running out of options, I knew I was going to die, so I knew I had to do two things, try to save my parents from the battle, and to kill as many of the creatures as I could. I spotted my parents a little away from me, fighting the small ones, but outnumbered. Running as fast as I could, I tried to get there to save them, I was halfway there when they were struck. Their bodies disappearing, I fell to my knees and thought "I couldn't save them...no." I felt a pain so great, I didn't care what happened anymore; I just stood there, hoping that soon I would die and be put out of my misery. I was then struck through the heart, and fell into darkness.

I woke up in what had to be the ruins of my planet. I stood there wondering, "What happened? I should be dead now, wasn't I struck through the heart?" I felt my chest, but there was no beating. What the hell had happened to me? Why was I still alive with no heart, while no one else returned? What did those creatures do? Had they destroyed the planet, destroying the ones who summoned them? The ground rumbled just then, and I realized I had to get out, I ran up to an abandoned ship, and flew away. As I flew away, I saw the planet collapse from its core, where its heart would be. I suddenly realized why I had no heart, the "Ones Without Hearts", the "Heartless", yes, seemed to steal people's hearts. Why I came back while no one else did I did not know, and did not care, I only knew three things. One, that I would change my name, it just seemed right, for I was no longer the person named "Austin" anymore, just his shell. Two, that I would take my revenge on those heart stealing bastards, I would learn everything I could about them, and kill them all. Finally, knowing the pain of loss, I swear that as I would protect my loved ones and the innocent, even if it costs my life.

So it is now that I start my new life, as Xatsuin.
