Here is where you will find brief explanations of each of the characters that held great importance in the Charmed legacy.

Prue Halliwell

Prue is the eldest of the Charmed sisters. Her powers are Telekinesis and Astral Projection. Since their mother died, Prue has helped Grams raise Piper and Phoebe, and she is very protective of them. She is also very driven in terms of her career- going from a museum curator, to an appraisor at Bucklands Auction House, to finally finding her true calling as a photojournalist for 415 Magazine. Prue was the most reluctant of the sisters to accept their new destiny, but soon became eager to hunt demons. Her passion for protecting the innocent ended up getting her killed by the demonic assassin, Shax.

Piper Halliwell-Wyatt

Piper is the second eldest of the sisters. Her powers are Molecular Inhabitation and Molecular Combustion. She is the most nurturing of the sisters, and quite often the peacemaker as she used to have to play mediator between Phoebe and Prue. After Prue's death, she took on the role as 'head witch' and the eldest Charmed One. She is now the mother of two boys, Wyatt and Chris, and she is married to their (now ex) whitelighter, Leo. On top of these responsibilities, she also owns and runs the now popular nightclub, P3.

Phoebe Halliwell

Phoebe is the third Charmed sister. Her powers are Clairvoyance and Levitation. She used to be the most carefree, but took on a more responsible role after Paige joined the family. Phoebe soon developed the power of Empathy but was stripped of her active powers by the Tribunal because she has been misusing them. She has earned back her clairvoyance power, and is currently earning back her other powers. She currently works as a famous advice columnist for the Bay Mirror.

Paige Matthews

Paige is the youngest of the Charmed sisters and half sister to Prue, Piper and Phoebe. Her powers are Orbing, Healing and Telekinesis. She was the child of the sister's mother, Patty, and her whitelighter, Sam, and had to be kept secret. After Prue died, things changed and Paige was able to be reunited with Piper and Phoebe and reconstitute the Power of Three. Her whitelighter half inspires her to help others, and she used to work at the South Bay Social Services, although is now a full time witch. Paige is a dedicated witch, and she is now also working as a whitelighter after spending almost a year as headmistress of the Magic School.

Kit/Katrina

Kit is the Halliwell's familiar. She used to belong to a witch named Serena Frederick, but when she was killed by a warlock (Jeremy Burns), Kit set out to guide the newest witches to the block: the Charmed Ones. After Prue died, Kit hung around Paige's apartment to keep an eye out for her until she joined with Piper and Phoebe. After the Charmed Ones where reconstituted, Kit wasn't needed by them anymore. She was rewarded for her work by being turned into a human- Katrina- so that she could teach and guide budding familiars.

Billie Jenkins

Billie is a young eager witch who becomes a student of the Charmed Ones whilst they were under assumed identities. She knew of their true identity and continued to work with them after they came back into the open again. Her older sister was kidnapped by a demon when she was a child, and she became determined to find her. When she discovers Christy, she is unsuspecting that her sister is now evil and is oblivious to her conversion until a showdown between the Jenkins and the Halliwells causes deaths on both sides. Defending herself against her sister, she accidently vanquishes her and once again joins the Halliwells.

Patty Halliwell

Patty Halliwell is the mother of the Halliwell sisters, and was married to Victor Bennet for years, with whom she conceived Prue, Piper and Phoebe. After she and Victor divorced, she had a relationship with her whitelighter, Sam Wilder, and had Paige. However, she was afraid that Paige's birth would have terrible consequences for all of her daughters and so she gave her youngest up for adoption. In 1978, Patty went up against a Water Demon who had claimed the lake by Camp Skylark- the camp that was attended by Prue and Piper. However, she was distracted during her vanquish and was killed herself, leaving her mother and ex-husband to raise her girls. Still, she is always at hand to guide her daughters.

Penny Halliwell

Penny Halliwell, otherwise known as Grams, raised three of the four sisters after Patty was killed. She clashed greatly with her ex-son-in-law, Victor, who soon left her to raise the girls herself. A former flower-child, Penny soon became one of the most talented witches ever known- feared by demons everywhere. Her love life was also no small matter: boasting three more marriages after her first husband, Alan (with whom she conceived Patty), was killed by a warlock. She has a great passion for the Charmed legacy and is always around to make sure that it is preserved. In 1998, she died of a heart attack. After that, the Charmed powers were released for Prue, Piper and Phoebe to discover barely six months later.

Melinda Warren

Melinda Warren was born on Samhain (Hallowe'en) 1670 in Virginia, into a coven and a magical family. When she was older, she moved to Salem and started a family: having a daughter by the name of Prudence. In 1692, she was tricked by a warlock and exposed to the town council, who later arrested her and burned her at the stake. Before she died, she announced that each generation of Warren witches will become stronger and stronger, until the arrival of three sisters, who will be the greatest force of good the world will ever see: the Charmed Ones.

Charlotte Warren

Charlotte Warren is the mother of Melinda. As the birth of her daughter would be the fulfillment of a great prophecy, she was kidnapped by an evil witch who wished to raise Melinda to yield the powers of dark magic. However, she was saved by three powerful witches who travelled back from the future to help... who she soon learned were her future descendants.

Leo Wyatt

Leo is the Charmed Ones whitelighter. He is also Piper's husband. His powers are Orbing, Healing and Glamouring. He is protective over the sisters and loves them more than anything. He often breaks the rules of his bosses, The Elders, in order to help his family. Before becoming a whitelighter, he was a doctor who saved many soldiers' lives during World War Two. When he saves the surviving Elders from the Titans, he receives the ultimate reward of becoming an Elder himself. However, after being betrayed by his mentor, Leo falls off the path and eventually joins the Avatars. When the Avatars failed in their plan, the Elders decide to give Leo the choice to either stay an Elder or become mortal, or which he chooses the latter. Now mortal, he's more active in raising his sons as well as being the first mortal headmaster of the Magic School.

Soon, Leo's life is threatened when the Angel of Death announces that Leo is destined to die. However, cutting a deal with an Angel of Destiny allows Piper to save her husband from the brink of death, and Leo ends up cryogenically frozen until the sisters have faced the Ultimate Battle. He is soon reunited with his family, allowing him and Piper to have another child- a girl- and grow old together.

Wyatt Matthew Halliwell

Wyatt is Piper and Leo's first son. Destined to be born a twice blessed child with more powers than any other witch, he has many powers: healing, orbing, sensing, power manipulation and creating a shield- and many more unnamed. He is so strong that he was able to make Piper invincable during her pregnancy. His abundance of power makes him a target for many a demons with hopes to make him an unstoppable force of evil.

Darryl Morris

Darryl is a Lieutenant for SFPD. He used to be an Inspector- Andy's partner in fact. He is the only mortal in on the Halliwell's big secret (other than his wife) and does almost anything he can to help them. He can sometimes be a little panicky, but he always comes through for the Halliwell family. After nearly being executed- as a victim of those morons, the Cleaners- he refuses to cover for the sisters anymore, not willing to put his family through that kind of ordeal again, although ends up coming through for the sisters. He views them as family, and will do as much as he can to protect their secret, although is soon prevented from doing so because of his wife, Sheila.

Cole Turner

Cole is Phoebe's ex husband. He used to be a very powerful demon, known as Belthazor, who was sent by the Triad to kill the Charmed Ones. Instead he fell in love with Phoebe. He has battled to stay good, through the temptations, when he was possessed by the Source and when his newly found demonic powers corrupted him. Still, Phoebe refused to be with him after all he put her through when he was possessed by the Source. Her hate drove him over the edge and he soon lost his mind. After several twisted attempts to win Phoebe back, the sisters managed to use his final plot against him and vanquished him forever. However, as punishment for his evil, and the fact that he is the only demon with a soul, he is doomed to spend eternity in limbo. However, he uses this to his advantage to save Piper and Leo's relationship and, in turn, stop Phoebe from giving up on love.

Andy Trudeau

Andy was Prue's high school boyfriend and old friend of the Halliwells. Romance was rekindled between him and Prue when he returned to San Francisco from Portland. They split shortly after he found out about Prue being a witch, but his love for her and her sisters lead him to protect them from the demon Rodriguez, but was unfortunately killed in the process.

Dan Gordon

Dan was Piper's boyfriend briefly during season 2. He was very jealous of Leo and protective over Piper. After they broke up, Dan did a search on Leo and found that the only Leo Wyatt in existence had died in 1942. After a wish gone awry, Piper is forced to tell Dan who she really is, and Dan no longer wants anything to do with her. Although Piper erases his memory and reverses the wish, Dan moves to Portland after receiving a promotion.

Henry Mitchell

Henry is a parole officer that ends up clashing with Paige when they attempt dealing with the same innocent. However hostile their relationship started as, their reliance on each other in certain situations soon blossoms into a romance. Not being intimated by the Halliwell family secret, he refuses to let Paige hide him away. He soon proposes to her and she accepts. The couple eventually tie the knot and are destined to give birth to twin girls and a little boy.

Coop

Coop is a cupid assigned by the Elders to help Phoebe find love. However, unknown to Phoebe or Coop, the Elders had hoped they would fall for each other. Eventually, this becomes the case and Phoebe finds the love she has been searching for since she lost Cole. The couple are wed by an Angel of Destiny and they are destined to have three girls.
